emailed to rusto:

This message is intended to reach a sales analysis specialist,

I have a question that you might be able to answer. I am a graduate student at Sacramento State University California. I am doing an in-depth study on graffiti. One question that has come up multiple times is whether spray paint companies know the exact portion of their sales and stolen product goes to the hands of vandals. Any statistics or some insider insight, at the very least, would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely

John Peterson

I suggest you disputing bitches (namely P2M) follow suit and send a similar email to the rustoleum company.

Have actual standing proof instead of relying on whatever you say in anger to the other person on the other side of the interweb

Its called figure of speech. I wasnt implying any of you were actually lucky which is why I did'nt catch it when he threw it back this way. If you were actually lucky in life you wouldn't be sitting here arguing about who makes up what for the most amount of paint sales. In fact you seem very unlucky...but that is your problem not mine.

Yeah and one last thing, do you really think Rustoleum is going to admittingly tell you how much paint sales make up for an illegal activity like graffiti. It like asking a tool company that makes a center punch how many car thieves buy that tool over auto mechanics.

Anybody that thinks construction workers and average Joes account for anywhere near the amount of spraypaint as writers is seriously delusional.

I know when do construction workers ever use spray paint. If they did you think that they would make them their own product lines or something...

How would they have any way of knowing the percentages of whos hands it ends up in anyways? They'd probably just make up some fake chart (like the one at the top of this page) that makes them look more legit.

Seriously, how much paint do you think some average Joe goes through? If they're painting a grill or whatever they go to the store, buy one can, use it for what they needed, then that can sits on a shelf. Same shit with construction workers. They use it to mark shit or paint lightswitches and maybe go threw a few cans per project. I know alot of writers that go through hundreds of cans in just a few months.

Obviously there are enough people buying this shit for them to spend money to create and promote a whole line of cans for a specific demographic...

Yeah graffiti artists you numbskull. Even if only 30% percent of three million freight cars have graffti on them. That alone would take a helluva alot of paint. Then the infinite amount of walls written around the country. Your going to sit and tell me Rustoleum isnt keep up on things. Graffiti is commercial these days.

Surely a company like Rustoleum is well aware of Belton & Montana. What you dont think they want to monoploize the market so these companies dont open up shop here?

but why would they creat a whole line if they arent making any substantial amount of money off of it. Also why wouldnt they create a sub-line that does not use their main-line names to take advantage of this market?

If you're talking about construction paint/ground marking cans etc, go to home depot and see how many of them are stocked versus how much Painters touch, AA, Rusto etc.
