Stenciling is a weak excuse for the kind of work The Mac, Tasso, Mear and others have been doing. If you don't know who I'm talking about, drop the stencils and get familiar..

im not sure i understand how mears work really relates to stenciling

(aside from the influences in terms of content maybe), but i scoped

his site and ill agree he tears it out, from his old school work to the

newer styles. ill get up on the other guys next...

ok, upon checkin out the mac's site (elmac.net)

i think i see what you mean, the sort of

abstraction of human forms, especially their

faces, which is just about the most common thing

a stencil artist will resort too (and even more

cliched is someone pointing a gun at the viewer).

while i completley understand how a single layer

stencil could be considered a weaker version of

their work, i find that the sheer simplicity of a stencil

(a well created one, anyhow) is what makes it

really impressive, the same way a hollow throw up

with correct letters and perspectives will impress

any seasoned veteran of writing. once again,

im reinforcing my point that graffiti (writing words)

and stencils arent in the same category but

are certainly in the same ballpark.

I meant that they actually paint the portraiture, not stencil it out. If you're into stencils, good for you. That's not real graffiti in my book. It's some sweet "art" for hipsters and graff jockers to vibe on, but not graff.

Shit man, you know how to paint. Why are you even worried about that stencil shit? leave it to the herbs.

I'm offerring $1000 to any information leading to the arrest of these sidewalk criminals.

These kids think that this is some kind of recreational activity, but it's not. How would you like it if someone came up to your sidewalk and riddle it with stick figures and rainbows. It's costed the city thousands of rain drops to clean up and will not be tolerated any longer.
