The Leader
His "criminal" back ground isn't all that bad.

Guest
good luck my man. I'm sure that you will hit some annoying patches with the new job, but after 3 months or so and things are ironed out, you'll be sure that you made the right choice to move on. I'm in a similar spot where I'm in a dream job right now, but 10 years from now, this isn't where I expect to be. Sometimes you have to light a fire under your own ass to get yourself moving. !@#$%
a job with travel perks is a beutiful thing. change is scary, but usually good. go for it, but do it right. don't dick your old company give them all the notice and training they'll need to replace you then you won't burn a bridge and maybe they'd be there for you again if you hated the new gig. CamAlmighty
Yea sounds like you've already taken it but here's my input anyways; The new job DOES sound a lot more fun, no dealing with stupid phone people and of course the travel, OH THE TRAVEL! But, if it's a new company there's always a chance they could belly flop, so like a lot of peeps have said; don't leave your current place on a bad note. From what I can gather it looks like you are a valued and liked member of the place, so if it all goes pear shaped at the new place, they should happily have you back. Good luck. ClueTwo
You know I like you guys sometimes.. Thanks for the support!! Guest
stable? fuck stable. dont worry about your job being 'stable' untill you have kids to feed. When people are young they need jobs that are exciting and interesting. We NEED challenges and we need to be rewarded for taking risks. Save the stability for people who are getting loans for houses and college for their kids.
Hoblow
I'm probably a little younger than you and in a different place career wise, so i may have a different perspective, but it sounds like you were about a year away from realising you were stuck in a job for the rest of your life, with no more prospect for career advancement. Good luck with whatever happens.
InnerCityRebel
I would take the new job offer.Solely on the fact there is going to be more room for you to move up.You pretty much said you are as far as you can go in your current job.And if the money is the same or even a little more why no go for it.Plus the travel aspect of the job sounds outstanding alone.Getting paid to travel can never be a terrible thing.that is my 2 cents.. ClueTwo
I took the job today, and put in my formal two weeks... I did ask for a little more money, but they pretty much shot me back down with a little padding.. I'm grateful all around...Now.. I have TO QUIT SMOKING!!! That's part of the job requirement. (Not for selfish reasons, but the potential risk of large explosions..) Anyone got a good idea? Patch, Gum, Anything?? This could easily be another thread and it has been, but I'm on 2 now..Let's keep it going.

Guest
the best way to quit smoking, and I quit in the past for like a year, it too use the patch ACCORDING TO THE INSTRUCTIONS! So many people get on the patch and use it for 3 weeks then think that they dont need it anymore. The patch is a 10 week program and sure it will be a few hundred dollars over the 10 weeks, but you'd be spending that on smokes anyways. If you want to quit, you HAVE to follow the game plan. Sure they are in the biz of selling niccoteen-replacement products, and some people say that they are just as bad as the cigarette companies, but realy.... stick with the plan, and it can work. ClueTwo
I'm going to buy the patch tonight...I'm on my "LAST" pack of cigarettes. I even bought the new Marlboro Light 72's just in theory that since they are shorter I would learn to smoke less...HAHAHAHA The mind of an addict.. Guest
set a date, dont think about how many smokes away it is, and just mentaly prepare yourself for that date. Then the night before that date, toss out all your ashtrays, lighters etc. Toss them in a trash can at a gas station or something so you can go and fish them out the next day. Buy like 5 packs of gum so you always have something to chew, and slap the first patch on first thing in the morning. Your nic levels are the lowest all day first thing in the morning. Don't think you can smoke in the morning and quit in the afternoon. God luck brother.
ClueTwo
You know what I just realized, aside from anything related to this thread, is that you said you were using Mozilla and that the paragraph size is generally a dead give-a-way. How come my paragraphs aren't all short... Good advice on the quitting deal too..My date is now set to: 03/24/05..DUM DUM DUMMMMMM
