Ski Mask
yeah. so I finally got my first taste of the darkroom. hooooooooooooo boy. my addiction to photography is now AA worthy. Walked out of class and booked the first chunk of darkroom time they had available without hesitating. too bad its 13 days away. You'll see the results soon after, I assure you. Guest Pilau Hands
WOOT for seeing it on top in the morning ese i'm glad you're going to be a darkroom jockey now. i love that smell. i'd like to ask all you guys a lot of questions, but don't know where to start. Maybe something specific... I'm going to be shooting members of a production company. I want to make something great since this will be my first photo "job". The going feeling is portraits...but not your bland headshot variety. The images i'm getting in my head remind me of Cindy Sherman http://cards.corporateecards.com/cards/598565439/large/sherman.jpg'> Anyway I've been taking prelim shots of locations I want to use, and I was wondering what you guys would suggest; esp experienced photo students. I'm really starting out so I'm sort of making it up as I go along. What type of BW film has treated you best in outdoor (sunshine)? Should I go for my red filter, or do you find it flattens things out too much? And now for the random I've posted some of these before also I just got this developed...no darkroom. I guess it was exposed well cause I love it. http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/155286/a_photo.jpg'> i hate to post images because they get grainy http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/155286/halfmoon_flowers.jpg'> http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/155286/m_photo1.jpg'> http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/155286/silky.jpg'> http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-5/155286/thebetterview.jpg'> Ok that's enough for a bump... Should I go for my red filter, or do you find it flattens things out too much? Well to start of you have some great pictures. As for help with your work, I'd say do what you think feels best for you. It probably sounds stupid, but it's also stupid to tell someone how to take pictures of people. You just have to do it and develop your own style. As for film, again it's whatever YOU like best. I'm a fan of Kodak TMY 400 speed film seen here: http://pic1.picturetrail.com/VOL134/1093773/2058325/24735762.jpg'> As for infared imagery try these sites: - http://www.mat.uc.pt/~rps/photos/FAQ_IR.html - http://www.coolmint.co.uk/infrared/gallery/640/g1.html "Use with pan films to create dramatic sky effects, simulated "moonlight" scenes in midday (by slight under-exposure). Excellent copying filter for blueprints. Use with infrared film for extreme contrast in sky, turns foliage white, cuts through fog, haze and mist. Used in scientific photography." Tyler Durden
tmax 100 for liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiife dawg. on the rare occasions that i shoot people i enjoy the creamy look it gives to a persons complexion. but thats just me. what about non-slide color film? as i told rage yesterday i havent shot color in about a year with my slr and i when i did i usually was going with kodak royal gold 100, even though ive been told that it casts too much of an "orange" on whatever im shooting i still like it. but does anyone else have any favorites as far as color goes? sadangry
Rage, your pictures are always amazing. I love fugi film, I usually use 100 speed, the colors are so saturated they look beautiful, I hate kodak color, i think it SUCKS! But I love kodak b/w 100 speed, reallly nice contrast, and kodak tech pan is dope.
