I love this type of graff but I would never touch it. I hate that it's becoming the "trend" of todays graffiti. To me it cheapens it. Much respect to everyone in this thread.

If I get bored I'll post more later. Anyone who wants to can continue. just pick a classic "that style" writer and throw down 6-8 examples.

NO NO NO thank you for shoutin' us out. and a damn fine thread i must say.

"That Style" which i like to call AOK RIS style is stupid crazy gumby dope.(that means i like it). i see it being recycled all the time (most of the time these kids have no idea where it came from).

What was done is said and done....And is a reflection of New york in general 10 plus years ago....Reas, Sento, Ghost, etc....They lived through stuff everyone wishes they could duplicate on freight trains....The comparison of today to then should stop, because, well those letters are a reflection of those writers personal lives, and no one can duplicate an experience, no matter how much they bite style......End the discussion because we all know who owns it.......

its the old-school george clinton funk steez.

im sure that somebody already said this but i didnt read through all jibber jabber. it seems to me that people are looking back to the old nyc subway style. i think that very few people are pulling it off in an original and eye-pleasing way. dont get me wrong, some of the shit is pure freshness, but i wish the bandwagon hoppers would simply go away. just my 33 cents. oh, and if i see another star or bubble in a funky fill-in, im going to chew off my ear lobes.

about this style

about this style... a lot of different writers in this great post, but with similarities...

i mean all of these writers seem to have a touch of old school, with some good old FUNK. Funky letters , characters stars etc.. i mean i can almost hear Bootise Collins when i see those flicks...

It has a touch of 70's , but these letters will always be good and never outdated.

this is graffiti that i like: funky simple letters, but taken to another level.good for trains, illegal, legals... hmm

I highly agree. A true return to our roots done correctly by the new and the old. Grey and Geso do it so right that you'd think you missed their pieces your first time around Subway Art. I'd rather scan through a hundred flicks of Amaze pieces than look at one horrible attempt at Abstract styles. At least an Amaze piece I can learn something from...
