I had a very similar conversation with Harvey Wallbanger about this. I've hit many forks in the road in my 20s. I've gone in deep schizoid/anti-social mode and a lot of people have been weeded out from my life during this process (and I know a lot of motherfuckers). I think of it as social cleansing. Quality over quantity any day.

I don't know why people get so worked up over other people's opinion of graffiti. Most of the people that aren't involved fucking hate it. Shit, even people that do it fucking hate it. But if you aren't doing it, your opinion doesn't count. R.I.P. Dash Snow. A real trend setter, artist, and writer.

I wouldn't say he got his ass handed to him. I don't think they beat him enough. I once saw two young kids take off with 3 road bikes and the biggest smiles on their face. The bikes were obviously too big for them and they were holding the third bike by the handle. Hipsters' bikes are getting jacked left to right by little kids in Echo Park/Silverlake/Downtown that can't afford one.

I remember being on 12oz when 9/11 happened. I believe it was "Freddy Krueger" who started the thread. I hate my elephant sized memory sometimes. It was surreal. I've seen snapshots of 9/11 from friends who worked in photo labs in Manhattan at the time. It is more more horrific that you can ever imagine. My condolences to everyone that has been affected by this tragedy.
