I was only 3, but i remember almost all of that shit for some reason. i think it was cause i had older brothers and cousins.

LA high is deceiving. my mom bought that vhs when i was just started skating. i thought it was the wackest shit ever. not cause of the dudes in it, but because it was shitty contest footy. and what was with blenders little eggroll shit freestyle thing? but i digged the tag, and then the non chalant front rock. years later, i recorded 20shot sequence and new world order onto the street style and tempe vhs. still got it today.

i think it was a ny thing. i grew up skating the city in the mid-late 90s. i saw other kids gripping it that way, and poppalardo probably saw it too. he was coming up in ny around the same time.

i just grip my board crooked. leave a little slice of the board showing on the bottom right side of the tail. anything else, like a line, or marker, gets distracting.
