i deprogrammed myself..accidentally.

it was when i had way too much lsd and then had a lot of pcp.

the breakdown in reality was indescribable.

i can sum it up by saying i forgot everything i had ever known or learned in an instant..

i was psychologically laid utterly bare.

it was a harrowing experience that took years to process.

it changed me forever, in a positive way.

as far as how to do it the natural way, you can get there by meditating..

this is a good introduction to buddhism and meditation

it can be a pacifying, liberating practice

and you don't have to be buddhist to learn from it..

i also recommend

Nature

Walden

stuff by J. Krishnamurti

and Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche

Yo !@#$%?...

funny that you'd mention that book.

I juat finished reading a book by him on mediation

and the praise on the back jacket was written by Richard Gere.

that made me laugh and just goest to prove that those Budhists have a sence of humour.

I can say that seing the Dalai Lama changed my life,

but it certainly did influence me to detach myself from anger.

novel, but also quite good

A book one might consider reading when trying to contemplate the philosophy of religion and whatnot, Stranger in a Strange Land , by Robert Heinlein. the book has some very good positions on religion in general, but also discusses the possibilities of how much controll we actually have over our own realities. and rather than leaving them in mystical terms it brings it quite well in to the metaphysical realm.

anywho just my two cents

You are absolutely right. I distinctly remember the "how can you have light without darkness" argument in there. That was a long time ago.
