Yeah, Yinz got this sht locked for now. Good work though.

If cool with Port-o, what about the next assignment be:

Draw what is in this box. It's 9 X 9 X 12"

only clue: not food or a pet inside

Due date: Monday, November 9th, midnight (your time)

sketch_contents_box.jpg

a thumb nail sketch or a full rendered drawing, whatever your time and resources allow

on Tuesday, I'll post a picture of what is inside

i fucked up and forgot about this... lets shoot again for next monday?

Ive been trying to post more, but ive been slacking to tell the truth. So here is a couple things i drew yesterday that i thought i would post up. The Virgin Mary, and The Sacred Heart of Jesus. I do alot of drawing in pen, so proportions will be off and things.

KSprue, how do you tackle a drawing like that? Im intrested because you inspired me to want to work on more scenic type sketches and things. I find when i sit down or i see a composition or somthing to draw. I end up intimidated. I know that probably sounds stupid, but i do. I think it may be because of my attachment to linear drawing and really aiming for my drawings to be perfect. Even if its a sketch, Im probably nuts, but regardless..tell us how you approach a drawing like that. I'd like to hear how you go into a drawing like that. Thanks.

Port-A J, you got your characters down to a good start. Those look good

I'm flattered that you like the sketches

I usually start with a pencil to get perspective and what I want to include in the drawing. There is usually more stuff there than I include in the sketch.

Then I squint my eyes and use three shades only:

paper color (lightest)

middle (single lines)

dark (cross hatch lines)

Notice that there is no people or moving cars in the above sketch. I still need to figure out how to draw these if they are moving. This drawing is all still so I can take my time.

I'll try to make a few more tomorrow and post here

Thanks for your comments

I've been slippin' on sketching lately so here are a couple of things I've done

this first one is of my girlfrined at the beach using a bunch of old yoken markers my friend gave me before he moved house.

it doesn't do her much justice she wasn't super impressed haha!

ws trying to layer the colours but they don't blend how I want them to so it looks pretty weird

next is a sketch of melbourne's skyline
