ok try that program and if that doesnt work

go to run msconfig go to startup find all entrys of the program uncheck all that are checked. then go to your registry hk_classes_root\applications then the file name then delete it, then go to hkey_current_user\software find the key thats from who ever put out the game delete it. then go to hkey_local_machines\software and repeat the above process then search for any reaming registry keys, any you find delete. delete the program then its gone.

this thread is the shit but my only computer question is why does 12oz hate me and so many other people some of the time? also everyone who uses windows xp should create a seperate account from the admin account with similar privleges, and use that as thier login account it makes it harder for some viruses to install and easier to clean them up

This really is an awesome thread... I'm still having some problems though.. My problem is my connection keeps getting dumped.. It only happens when I click on a link for a site, when i'm on a different site.. I'll click the link, the new page will open up in a different window like usual.. But as soon the page is loaded, my connection to BOTH pages are dumped..

The only way around this is for me to copy/paste the link, that's the only way it'll work..

A little background..

Ad-Aware SE...Ran religiously, and updated whenever possible..

SpyBot... Ran religiously, updated all the time...

Nortons 2003... Ran sometimes, but out of date.. Free subscription is dead ass.. Currently uninstalled for a new program that asked me to take it out..

These catch stuff everytime I run the program.. The Ad-aware usually picks up 60-90 problems.. Usually registry keys, and cookies..shit like that... The SpyBot picks up 5-8 problems of the same category..

I did an online scan at http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and it said there was some Trojan's and some Worm's... The Trojan's were ''uncleanable''...

So, thank's to this thread.. I've tried, spy sweeper, spyware doctor(faulty version though, limited access-no code).. I've got that ''Tune-Up'', I like it.. It's pretty good, it wrecks shit..

I also installed ''eTrust EZ AntiVirus'' on a 1 year trial.. This motherfucker picked up over 370 Virus'... Trojans, system32's.exe(?).. They're ALL removed and cleaned out, but this damn problem is still there... :hatred:

I did another search after the 370+ one, and forgot to save the old virus' names and the folders they were in.. I was going to post some of them in here.. I do remember some were in a c:/WINNT section and the majority were in a ''system volume information" section..

Sorry for the length fella's... Any idea's?

it sound like you're computer has a lot of problems due to viruses... this is what i found on that virus you listed... using the info given, delete the necessary files/registry keys and you should be alright. download the free version of AVG antivirus from www.grisoft.com. see if that can help with any of the viruses you have.

Virus Name: HLLP.Savno.A

Pervasiveness: 2 of 5

Destructiveness: 2 of 5

Wildness: 2 of 5

Type: Virus

Aliases: [Win32/]HLLP.Savno.A ; [PE_]SAVNO.A (Trend); [W32.]HLLP.Spreda.B (Symantec); [W32/]HLLP.Savno!p2p (McAfee); [Win32.]HLLP.Savno.A;

Date Modified: 21-Oct-2003

Date Published: 19-Oct-2003

Description:

Win32.HLLP.Savno is a prepending virus which targets executables residing in the KaZaA download directory.

When executed, the virus tries to determine the KaZaA download directory by querying the registry key:

HKLM\Software\KaZaA\LocalContent\DownloadDir

If this is not found, no files are infected. If this registry key and directory do exist, the virus then searches for, and attempts to infect *.exe files which are between 102,400 and 10,385,024 bytes in size. The virus prepends itself to a suitable clean file with 115,712 bytes of its own code.

The worm then drops the original clean host to %Windows%\winww\sn??.exe (where ?? may be a number between 0 and 49) and executes it.

Note: '%Windows%' is a variable location. The virus determines the location of the current Windows folder by querying the operating system. The default installation location for the Windows directory for Windows 2000 and NT is C:\Winnt; for 95,98 and ME is C:\Windows; and for XP is C:\Windows.

The virus can also search in and beneath following directories:

c:\Documents and Settings

%Windows%\Temporary Internet Files

for Internet Shortcuts (*.url) with the following 'key' words:

password

log on

log-on

logon

login

bank

sign-on

sign on

building society

registration

register

lloyds

If any such shortcut is found, a file is dropped to %Windows%\savenow.exe.

A corresponding registry entry is also created to launch the application the next time Windows is started:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\savenow="%Windows%\savenow.exe"

In the sample Computer Associates received from the wild, this file was corrupted.

well almost every virus scanner makes a log file after its done, i reccomend downloading hijackthis http://www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html

and dllcompare

http://download.broadbandmedic.com/DllCompare.exe

then run hijack this, and dllcompare both are fairly easy to use and really great programs, dllcompare also compares and finds exe's if you set it to but just run it to find dll's use both to fix problems if you have any questions about a entry just do a google search on it to find out what it is or post it here and i will tell ya.

dude what the hell do you use your computer for

ok free porn = spyware or keyloggers

warez sites = spyware or keyloggers

warez = viruses

exe's off kazaa and other programs = viruses about 80% of the time

zip or rar archives off kazaa = viruses 80% of the time

man i have run across so few computers infected with that much stuff, wait 327 viruses or infected files?

My bad.. Not 327 virus'.. 327 infected files... Sorry bout that..

As far as what I use my comp for.. Nothing much except for music.. No gaming or anything.. No porn... Umm... None of this happened until I got ARES..

I just got that AVG and ran that.. I came up with 4 more:

trojan horse-dropper.fc.s

trojan horse-backdoor Lroffer.2.BJ

trojan horse-downloader.adroar.A

WIN32/SAVNO.A

I'm still having the same problem, with the links and the lost connections with both pages..

Well.. I've managed to take out two of the viruses..

These remain:

WIN32/Savno.A--infected nortons2004

Trojan Horse-dropper.fc.s

These two are ''embedded'' and I can't seem to remove them.. Furthermore, I can't even locate the files that they are in.. They're both in a ''system volume information-restore'' file.. I can see the file when i'm in AVG or any of my other anti-virus program's, but when I look for it through ''my computer'', it's not there.. Nothing comes up when I search for it either... The virus programs can't delete it, and I can't find it's folder to manually kill it.. :yuck:

Where's that ''herpes for windows'' download ;) ...fuck

personally in my travels , the dso exploit has been the most rampant std style issue ive found on machines in the past 2 years. and there are very few tools to remove it.

heres some info i found on pc hell

What is DSO Exploit?

If you use Spybot Search and Destroy or another spyware removal tool, it may find an item called DSO Exploit. This exploit is a bug in Internet Explorer that under certain circumstances would allow untrusted software to run on the computer. In other words, its a hole in Internet Explorer that hackers could use to gain access to your system.

However, if you are running the latest version of Internet Explorer and have all your Windows Updates installed, the bug has been patched and is not a threat to your computer system. Even though Spybot may still show it as a threat.

How do I Remove DSO Exploit?

If you have the latest Internet Explorer version and all your Windows Updates, you can safely ignore the DSO Exploit as a potential problem when Spybot Search and Destroy or other spyware removal tools discover it. However if you would rather fix the exploit so it does not show up again, follow these steps to edit your Windows Registry. Please be careful however, incorrect changes to the Windows Registry can cause Windows to not boot.

1) Make a note of the location of the exploit shown in Spybot, something similar to:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1614895754-73586283-725345543-500\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\Zones\0\1004!=W=3

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and Press Enter to open the Windows Registry Editor

3) Find the location of the exploit above in the registry by clicking on the pluses(+) next to each title

4) After opening the Zones section and clicking on '0' look to the right window, under 'name' is the key '1004' and the type is REG_SZ simply right click and delete this REG_SZ value. Then right click and create new>DWORD Value, name it 1004, then right click on that and goto modify, give it the Hex Value of 3, Click ok.

If there is only a DWORD Value for the key (in this case 1004), then double click on the key and change the HEX value to 3 and click Ok.

5) Close the Registry Editor and Reboot your computer

6) The DSO Exploit should now be removed and it should no longer appear in the Spybot Search and Destroy log as a problem.

Nero is a great program for CD/DVD burning (if you're using a PC). if you want i can send you the install file for a 'free' version once i get home. PM me if you're still interested.

All of the sudden when I play Halo on my PC it feels really fucking laggy and I cant move around good. Like I'll be going and stop..and it will keep walking and looking around and shit.

My ping is still low so I don't think I'm lagging. What could be wrong? It always worked fine.

you're talking about playing online? because that doesn't necessarily mean it's your computer causing the lag... it could be the server you connect to. also, you probably already know this, but don't run things like bit torrent while playing, it hogs bandwidth and memory like it's its job.

for a bit better security diable active x scripts, it wont let you view some web pages but it also prevents lots of spyware from installing, dont use ie, get opera or mozilla also make sure you have a decent firewall no not the one that comes with sp2 thats a joke microsoft just forgot to tell everyone, i use nortons its decent and it was free, i also really like black ice i used it for years it has to be one of the best software firewalls available. password protection for your network is a good idea also disable printer and file sharing for your computer that should be a basic for anyone running windows, when you do virus scans make sure there are no exceptions some viruses i have encountered like to make themselfs exempt from searches. when you buy a router for your network see if it has a firewall built in. also dont download shit the majority of stuff is infected with something, all it takes is a trojan on your computer for a couple minutes for someone to gain control ( installs, auto connects to a server running on someones machine that was the original infection, installs a back door, deletes itself, you never would know it was there and your machine is comprimised ) though i will say video files are usually a safe bet, bit harder to add viruses to them.

i heard Black Ice was crap... but i could be wrong. i use Zone Alarm... it got excellent reviews.

i'm pissed... i had to reinstall Windows because i put a new motherboard and processor into my computer and Windows wouldn't work (i guess because of the new hardware configuration)... so now i have to reinstall EVERYTHING... the tons of windows updates, all the software i had..... shit's gonna take forever

hahahahahahahaha but yeah i used black ice for years until i got nortons when i bought my laptop i got a free year of nortons but black ice is one i would reccomend to use, its easy to understand and set up offers decent protection and is fairly small, oh yeah i also reccomend reinstalling windows every 6 months or so it stops it from crashing as much.
