i'd say either your sound card conked out, or you installed something that conflicts with it. try turning off your computer, opening it up, taking out your sound card, and starting your computer up again... then turn it off again, put the card back in, and turn it on... see if it comes up with the found new hardware wizard. if not, then the card's probably busted.

ok dude i have dealt with that sound card problem for so many people its one of xp's quirks i cant remember everything right now, and my net is shitty walls and a yard and my neighbors walls in the way and the someone has a bunch of dummy connections up to prevent people like me from stealing bandwith but tommorow i will post how to fix it, if you got a internet connection on the computer you can just go to troubleshoot sound card then let microsofts web sit fix it for you, otherwise wait until morning when i go get some coffee.

gucci what sort of connection are you running and who is your isp? some dial up isp's suck ass and kill the connection to save them money and be a pain in the ass to you, are you running a wifi connection? if so then thats the problem cellphones cordless phones microwaves tv's etc can screw wifi connections well i dont know about tv's but my cell makes my tv go all fuzzy whenever it rings, if you are on a land line try a new cord, or try sutting wifi off for your router someone like me might be playing a joke on you and kicking you in the middle of a game for laughs. ok night thread i cant belive i get wifi inside.. ;) ;)

dam i am watching jerry right now and this dude is fat as hell and coming out to his roomate on jerry lol dam i mean this dude is fat!

but for trial versions they check the date from the install to the time it expires, just alter the registry to say you just installed it that day and bam keep using it for free, well its a bit more complicated then that but your all smart so you can figure it out.

rcn might have a bandwith caps, you said people came out to so its not your moden or cables it might be your network card, how old is it? it could also be someone fucking with you, i did something like that to my exroomate everytime he tried to telnet my computer would kick him off the router.

Also, my internet connection is a coon. I'll be playing Halo, or just chilling and my connection just drops. ALL the time. The guy came out and did a reading and said the connection was strong. Whats the deal?

i had a similar problem, but i have DSL with Verizon. every once in a while, the connection light on the modem would start blinking, indicating that it lost signal, and would return after about a minute. sometimes it would do this every 5 minutes, other times it wouldn't happen for hours. i swear i must have been on the phone with Verizon about 10 times, and every time they were like "it looks to me like your connection is strong" and would tell me the same bullshit i already knew about checking the filters on the house phones and shit. finally after enough hassling, i got them to send someone out to check the line near my house... and sure enough, they found a problem and fixed it... haven't had a problem since.

Uhhm the cable modem and all that shit I got about 4 years ago.

My computer is a year old but all the modem components are the originals.

Can I upgrade anything to make it work better?

And that shit on the SpeedGuide.Net was very interesting but I tried to read through how to tweak my shit up nicely but after about 2 hours I still hadn't learned anything really.

ok, so im having a computer problem. plz hlp .

my router (which is only 3 months old, is being a bitch)

i've got my cable modem hooked up to the router and the desktop downstairs, and i've got my wireless card in my laptop. Lately, the router has been lit up, saying it's working, but the internet connection keeps disconnecting from the laptop and then going back up, and then back down. If i unplug the router for 10 secs, the laptop reconnects to the internet. Also, when my linksys wireless connection cant be established, my computer's been latchin on to someone's else's internet-DONNIE3.. it's insanity.

this probably makes no sense, but help, please.

thanks.

sugar ok wifi signals are finickey turn on your microwave and see what happens to the signal use some cordless phones and see what happens to the signal, what are you running 802.11 b/g/a are you running a secure network? you cal also go to your wireless setting and tell your computer not to connect to that other network, go to network connections, then wireless connection, then properties, then wireless networks, then the network you dont want to connect to, then properties then tell it not to automaticly connect to that network.

as far as the router goes it might just be you are to far away from it, you said downstairs well walls weaken signals, does this happen when you are in lets say the next room from the router or the same room as the router. have you tried a different wireless card to? they can burn out really fast, i had one die in a month.

also secure your network. everyone secure your wireless networks unless you live near me in which case dont bother securing so its less of a pain in the ass for me to use the internet.

lol i used to go over to ak**i and sit outside and use thier uber connections considering they are a major company and they didnt have a secure network was amazing and even when they did i had the inside hookup so i could still get a user account. i can name a few major companies in cities that dont have secure wireless networks for web access. and key try the porn one whats the worst that can happen.
