Hey folks, this is towards any brooklyn kids: doing this project for a graphic design class where basically I have to design the promotional stuff, signage, concept, etc for an exhibition that would be featured at a particular gallery. Thing is, its gota be a relatively good idea for it to fly. Heres my idea and why I need some of you guys from BK: he main "art" featured will be graffiti canvas, etc. done by Brooklyn and Pratt based graffiti artists (for instance, Ewok is a well known graffiti artist who attended Pratt and just recently graduated, another artist attended Pratt during the 80s who was well known then (his name slipped my mind right now, but I'll find out what it is). They would also have their art presented there) -It will be almost like an ongoing "opening party" (not so much party, you'll understand in a moment) that will incorporate two more creative arts; dancing and music. DJs will have set schedules in which they will come in and perform, as well as an always available small floor for dancing, primarly breakdancing (to incorporate the 'graffiti/hiphop' theme in). Opening day Brooklyn based Breakdancers (such as zulu nation crew) will perform on the floor along with either Brooklyn based MCs or DJs, but otherwise BK based DJs (known or unknown) will be dj-ing and the "breakdancing" floor will always be available for kids to come in, view the work, and dance a little. And before you ask: the floor will be positioned in that it will be impossible to disturb any artwork (maybe partitions to seperate the area? I'll know more after I go check out the location.) -Depending on the size and ability, I also might want to incorporate a counter where artwork/clothing/etc can be purchased that is created by the artists featured, that will also act as an information booth area as well. -As for the design of the actual gallery and signage: I was thinking about freight trains, subways, raw brick/urban-related textures, metals, etc. ^^that was obviously a proposal I wrote my professor, who loved it. Anyway, any kids down with letting me use some photos of pieces they did for my "mood board" (haha, its basically a visual way of describing what will be ftr at the show, whose/what pieces, etc.) Thanks folks, sorry so long.
