HESHIANDET
The FUJI OBEY!!!!!!!!!! SO this is the special order custom pile of shit made in cookie cutter land. Nice job applying "urban design sensibilities" to a junk bike. For real. Talk about missing the boat. A limited run of exclusive bikes from a manufacturer that churns out nothing but the numbers. The EXACT Opposite of boutique. I can see all the "cool" kids with their barenuckles and better making fun of the Obey crowd. Ha! Now the hipsters can match their bike to the backpack while rolling around with the stencil from the jeans getting up for Mr. F on every mailbox in town. http://www.hypediss.com/obey_x_fuji_limited_edition_bike BARF! all those 'streetwear' companies and sneaker shops are making bikes. NerdUnit
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Barf is right! I feel bad for the person suckered on the gold ano and Brooks saddle. They even cheezed the Swift by making it with CroMo rails. Shit OEM move. YO HESIANDET the deal with Bettin and Stuttgart is this. Bettini didn't sign the UCI's rider declaration (basically says I'm clean find me dirty and I'm in trouble and you will take a years salary). What he DID do was strike out the years salary deal and sign it as his own version. So the politicians in Stuttgart are making noise about a clean world championships saying this one is not welcome and that one too type shit. Yo they told Eddy Merckx to stay home he wasn't welcome there. Crazy. So the UCI can't make anyone sign the aggreement as it is voluntary. So Bettini volunteered his own version and the UCI couldn't do shit about it. The clowns in Stuttgart were pissed so now they won't pay the UCI what they owe them for the hosting of the race. Now post race lawsuits are flying like crazy. UCI going after Stuttgart Bettini going after Stuttgart and Stuttgart going after the UCI for breach of contract. Best part is Bettini said before the race I am going to win as revenge for all this BS from the politicians. And he did. Word.
Joker
Not one to give ideas to companies I don't really care to support but I think Fuji and Obey missed the boat on that one. Any self-respecting person who knows a little bit about themselves is not going to buy that bike. Even if they like Fuji bikes and/or Shepard's work. It might as well say Old Navy and have blinking lights around it. I think they would have had a better chance of selling a Dutch style commuter with panniers. They could have put some of Shepard's images on the panniers, kept the Brooks saddle, done intergrated lights with maybe a star shape for the rear tail light... so many things. And still kept the same price tag. The fixed community is fickle, I'm finding, and bikes like that OBEY one are the ones that riders keep far, far away from. The ones who do ride them deserve all the taunts they're definitely going to get. If they had done the Dutch commuter... I would have applauded, and taken my bitch slaps from my peers for applauding Fuji and/or OBEY.

NerdUnit
Joker: Dutch commuter or any commuter would have been cool. Shepard fully fucked up on that with the connection to the propoganda angle with his pastey things. You know a utilitarian bike for the people type shit. You could hook up an easy street myspace/youtube marketing deal for that in like ten min. They are made for each other. Not to mention you can get a larger portion of the females out there interested. I see the ad with a cutie stopped at a light or some shit with the panniers filled with organic produce and the obligatory french bread. Looking stylish and confident. You could even do eco panniers like hemp or some shit. I'm making multiple statements about my lifestyle all rolled into functional and sharp transportation. Not everyone wants to roll around with a huge bag on too. I agree no one in that fixie crowd will go for it. It's not like sneakers. Those just look good and you can coordinate with your hats. Doesn't matter who choses the colors. They look good to you or not. They all lace up the same.. Bicycles? Wrong branding experiment. When you do custom limited bicycle run price tags should be in the $3000 range. Minimum. Good luck Fu-bey!
HESHIANDET
im sure they will all go to japan or korea or somewhere where people pay for dumb shit and support a whole industry thousands of miles away in nyc......i seriously cringe the hardest when i see dumb streetwear brands/skateshops selling a 'custom' bike. bettini is the shit. btw. whoiseuth
alright. do the miche high flange hubs have the brand on the flanges or not? i have seen flicks both with and without. regardless i suppose i could buff them off with 0000 steel wool. also is the polish comparable to the crankset or less so? grassy-ass. whoiseuth
ps - i agree that no one wants to buy a "custom" bike off the floor. the limited langsters have hit the market, including the shop i am at. aluminum frame with what they assert is a carbon fork (im not certain) for >$650? the london looks best thus far and the chicago is just fucking terrible. but who is going to buy them? rubbish heap two
i don't understand that fuji shit either. the formula is so simple it's not even funny: get bridgestone or panasonic to return to the US market, start officially distributing keirin frames (or bikes) in direct competition to the pistas and bareknuckles of the world, and collect the profit. the kids want lugs, damn it! and truvativ needs to be put out of business. NerdUnit
Ha! That's really good. I can't beleive the t-shirt wasn't getting caught up in the crank. That kid has skills.
rubbish heap two
some bitch was inches away from hitting me today as she pulled out of an intersection without paying any attention at all to what was around her. she didn't even hit the brakes, the accident was entirely avoided because i swerved out of the way at a sharp enough angle that i didn't get clipped by the car. i'm seriously tired of zoned out drivers not paying attention to the road... rubbish heap two
http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=350017 I just saw pictures of the new fuji obey from interbike.......Totally the most awesome best looking track bike I have ever laid eyes on. Limited edition, great components, stellar color scheme. And I thought Surly Steamroller was the one. HAHAHAHAHA
NerdUnit
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Ha Ha Bike forums. Wow everyone is hating on that bike. Looks like it is already a success. For all the wrong reasons.
soupBDC
That Arabian bike donut video's old no-less funny. I dunno what to say about that fuji obey bike. I like the looks, but besides not needing another track-mode commuter bike, Im not paying $600 more than its worth just for namesake. Look at that shitty badge... Shepherd hasnt cared about an Obey project in six years. My ride yesterday came after a two day break from the 150 miles I did on over the weekend. Shit was awesome. Two hours of non stop sprinting and at the end of I felt sick but my legs felt great.

Joker
This is what Fuji & OBEY should have worked with... And if they wanted custom... Even an OBEY single speed Breezer with disc brakes when have gotten some applause from me...

Howd his shit look at interbike? i wasnt there, hence me asking to pass my thanks along. my homie doug was workin at the chrome booth and jon handed off the pad to him to give to me. it seems to be pretty well constructed though. id like to check out one of them rickshaw bags to see what the deal is. Lew Blum
I mean, really... who is going to buy/ride this at the local TT? Tron or Neo from the matrix. You know things are getting wierd when you look at a bike and cant figure out how the front wheel pivots. The diamond frame has been around for, what, 100? 200 years now? i think they should stop trying to fuck with it and just focus on new materials.
NerdUnit
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ The only reason they make shit like that is to turn industry heads. Look what is possible if we don't have to follow competition regulations on bike design. Tron yes. Improving the bicycle, no. Not enough to validate that much toe overlap! Ha Ha.
Joker
Not enough to validate that much toe overlap! Exactly! When I first saw this bike I looked at it for about two minutes trying to figure everything out and then noticed the toe overlap. With just he crank arms overlapping it's about two inches... add a shoe to that crank arm and we're talking major overlapping. I'm all for technology and advancement but functional. If you're doing shit just to make it pretty... it's sculpture, not functional. It's writers who add bars and shit to their pieces that are coming out of no where and are connected to nothing. Personal pet peeve...
