Posted June 16, 2012 Share Posted June 16, 2012 I work at safeway as a service clerk, it is an aleternate reality, where each minute feels like an hour, all my coworkers are handicapped and cant do the simplest of tasks. I'm the only one thats not full on retarded so I feel obliged to do everything, everyday is a nightmare, every till calls for me every 10 seconds, even though they know there is only one of me, their piercing stares jab at my fragile ego, with cold dead eyes and a permanent fake smile the cashiers ask the customers how their day is going, and they say "thats good" before the customer can reply. My job reminds me of the myth of Sisyphus, only instead of pushing a boulder up a hill for all eternity, I push shopping carts, collect shopping baskets, and tie up and put away bags of empty cans that are no doubt riddled with hobo disease. All of this for the almighty dollar, trading in my eighteenth year for 10.25 an hour, maybe I'll just take out a student loan and go to university.
