Perhaps this patriotic feeling and the idea that people being nice for whatever reason stays and becomes genuine, that would not be a good thing? Perhaps you might be part of the problem as far as the "false unity crap" it seems that you don't want to be part of the unity yet you get mad when people don't want to connect with you. Second off to the person that made the comment about people waving around US flags being blind sheep. It is about supporting YOUR country, to all those innocent people that lost there lives from business people, to firefighter's, to the police that risked their lives trying to save others. It's about showing your respect to those that have fought and died for this country. They fought for the right for you to speak out against them. 23578 Posted September 18, 2001 Share Posted September 18, 2001 did everyone fail to read bug's first post? i think it points out in there why he thinks we are blind sheep, and how we are being manipulated by the bad guys into making things worse. we were the first to witness a president express the commitment toward retaliation in church during friday's memorial service for the victims. some of you people sound very high and mighty as well. it's very hard to say what flying the flag means to people, and why its being flown. from what i see, i think it's just like the yellow ribbon thing during the persian gulf, you know, showing support for the troops and the victims of all this. also putting on the game face, and showing that we're bearing the torch of freedom. last week i was annoyed to hear the national anthem in church, but maybe it was because it's just unusual, i don't know. i said as much on here, and no one jumped down my throat about that. hmmm. Waving a flag is cop out, people think if they wave a flag and are 'supportive', they are doing their part. Put down your damn flags and go out there and make your country a better place to live, go feed some homeless people, or plant some trees. Someone mentioned earlier about feeling sorry for this generation as being the next leaders, i agree.. can u imagine some snot nosed, zit face, american teenager, who's grown up watching MTV and working in a movie thearter, going up against one of these war hardened afgahns, who could probably slit your throat in your sleep? I think both stances have a fair share of ignorance and raw stupidity, but the way things are, seems like we're being forced to pick one.
