It was more of a respect thang. I respect all of them for that! Funny thing was that the canvas squashed atleast two beefs, and openned the door for Koak in DC4. I'm sorry, but I really have no idea how half of you fellas and ladies see your work as postable. Do some research. Just because this is at base, a vandalism and graffiti based forum, doesn't mean anything can pass as valid. There are some nice pieces in this thread---but they are pages and pages back. The shitty outweigh the quality. That's not good. In my opinion, one shouldn't post anything up unless it is on par with the more advanced work in any given thread. Canvas, street, metal, whatever. Poorly biting already recycled styles and aesthetics is nothing to pat yourself on the back for. It's not inspiring. It's not pleasing. It's hilarious and at the same time nauseating. If you are having fun doing it, great. Awesome. It's more constructive than beating off or watching TV. Just don't take yourself too seriously-- Quality art, I understand, is subjective to a certain degree. I am no art god, or graff king. I just pay attention. I am a designer by trade, so I guess I might look at composition, and the general balance of visual elements, and thematic cohesion a bit more than others. However, I don't think these considerations should be ignored. And they have, over, and over, and over in this thread, and I think it's glaringly obvious. So with that, don't get you collective panties bunched, but I think the majority of this stuff is shit. Runny, Olde English hangover butt pee beer shit. That is all. And I'll go ahead and agree by saying you're right... you're not going to fin that aesthetic in here. Maybe two or three pages worth out of 142... maybe. We all have our own opinions on what makes art good or what looks good. Personally, not a fan of traditional writing on canvas but I have seen som epretty convincing pieces before that had me thinking twice. Though they were far and few between the ones that make you wish you were blind. I think what this thread comes down to is expression. You're feeling it so you do it and you want to share. Nine out of ten are going to talk shit about but there's a chance that at least one will feel it and that's a good feeling. So do what you feel in your heart. However... much like painting on a wall or working in your book... let's strive for originality. That's the nature of our culture, correct? If you're trying to cash in on the Graffiti canvas craze... I hate to break it to you but that fad is over. It'll come back around again in about ten or fifteen years but right now, shit is done.
