More importantly, I had some professiors talking about how digital is going to put polaroid out of business now that they are making digital

backs for most cameras. How do you feel about this rage?

Digital backs?! That's the first time I've ever heard of that.

Why even bother and how is that possible?

They're expensive as hell now but from what this guy has told me it's literally a back with a little 3CCD chip on it and and use those small scan disk cards. They aren't that good but they're supposed to be "easier" than polaroid proofs. In addition to these supposed backs people are just using digital cameras in general for proofs. Prof told me polaroid's only real market now is for proofing.

I'm a complete Luddite when it comes to the film verse digital thing. Fuck that digi crap. I need something tangible and I need to know I actually put work into something I'm doing.

I'm both ways with Digital and Print.

I'd love to do more print, but I don't have the $$ or access to any facilities.

I like Polaroids now becuase I can find the cameras cheap and they all still work. It's humbling to sit and watch what will develop in my hand... the same as if I would be using developer and stop bath in a dark room.

Digital is good for me because I hate fumbling with ALL of my 35mm cameras and equipment. There's to much going on at once.

Eh, so in conclusion Polaroids are NOT dying and your professor is a shitbrick.

I'd love to teach a class just on Polaroids.

on the whole digital vs film vs polaroid..

this peel apart film is awesome. you get it almost instantly and it's like an actual print as opposed to the other polaroids with the plastic cover that holds the image in. i hope that made sense. and digital is pretty rad. but it all depends on how you print it.

and i've never really got to work in a darkroom so i can't comment on all that.. i like them all in their own way

yeaaahbaby-what kind of lens did you use for that?

Film Vs. Digital

i def like working with film more than digital. id rather sit in a darkroom all day than sit in front of a computer and mess with pics. the only good thing about digital is that you dont have to wait to see how your photos came out. film is just more gratifying. anyways i should have some new photos to contribute tomorrow. did a little experimenting with a pinhole and shot a few rolls in my holgas.

i'm going to be picking up a canon eos rebel t2 35mm with the 28-90mm zoom lens. hopefully i should have some good prints from that within a week or so. i shot a couple rolls today with my friend's canon so i'll see how those turned out. if it's anything worthwhile i'll drop it in here.

cheers.

i like that rooftop one peanut..

pmb-good luck..i'm sure they'll come out hot.. the last wedding i was at the photographer had this sick hasselblad and like a car battery for her flash..

it was awesome. those holgas are sick too..so simple..

fr8junkie.. my friend just got it from his grandma but he doesn't know shit about photography so he asked my to take it and figure it out. it's pretty crazy. it's left handed pretty much. the whole set up is weird. i found a manual online last night and i'm checking it out now. and yes the lens is off the hook. zeiss is the ill shit.and it has a view finder that you look down into. i'm feeling it so far.. i can't wait to use it.

i should also have a bunch of photos developed this week..

that exakta camera has a serious light leak problem. i finally got the shutter release button to work but one of the actual shutter screens is fucked up. i will post 2 of the three photos that came out in a bit.
