  1. That couldn't be farther from the truth. As china becomes richer exporting goods from china becomes more expensive. Importing into china begins to look more lucrative. The Chinese people are becoming richer and can afford to buy higher quality foreign goods, so you'll see a much greater level of imports into china from other countries. Also you'll see more manufacturing jobs returning to America from overseas. Any country becoming richer is better for America. This is our game.
  2. http://mises.org/daily/2211 The invention of such technology started as a military program. Just like planes, rockets, modern cars and motorcycles, text messages, the entire infrastructure of california booming into the 4th largest economy compared to every country in the world....all reactions by the US government to the first and second world war. But the government wasn't the motivator behind invention, it was the first application for those inventions, and what took that technology out of the military and into the hands of the consumer was the free market. America today is still the biggest manufacturer and innovator in the world.
  3. Here's a segment I like to call "A failure to communicate" "I listen to like, an insane amount of different kinds of music." In america this means: Listening to whatever is new on Pitchfork.com My roommate means: Nestle commercial jingles, limp bizkit, ramstein, indian bollywood shit, and johnny cash. "I was a model in india." In america this means: He was a malnourished scandinavian woman who's too pretty to worry about getting a real job. My roommate means: I have no fucking clue. "I dated a stripper in New York." In america this means: He's a trick. My roommate means: This was a highlight of his life. Here's a segment called "My roommate talks a lot of shit." "I dated a model in new york." "I dated a nude model in new york." "My ancestors were vikings." "In india I rode a motorcycle everywhere." Then later he spots my motorcycle helmets and asks "Are those skydiving helmets?" "Can you drive me to Fry's? I want to get a big screen tv." so I take him there and he stands in front of the TV's like Im supposed to buy one or something. Last time i drive him anywhere. Also one time he wanted me to introduce him to some girls, so I took him to a bar in san francisco with not one, not two, but THREE batchlorette parties and he came out empty handed. Oh and the funniest thing was when he had to go "Get ready" and he put on a club shirt and the skinniest jeans ive ever seen on a dude. And not that dressing like that is EVER okay, but keep in mind we're going to a fucking bar. This is a computer software engineer, btw. The next day he talked about how that was nothing and how in new york one time he and three of his friends dropped $3,000 at a strip club. I guess I was supposed to be impressed. And the day after that he decided he was going to get married in the next two years, and his mom was tracking down a wife for him.
  4. I had a set of bars like that for a minute. Made them out of a pair of messed up 90's looking mtb bars that curled up. Rode them like that for a while, then realized that my arms so close together was compressing my lungs.... In my defense that was almost five years ago. Anywho I bought a mini camelbak backpack and a dual led cygolite 400 lumen thing for $120. The dual led gives a pretty awesome spread. Looks like a halogen highbeam. Im not angling the thing down to the ground to see light. I'm just aiming it straight on and lighting up the whole block. 750 lumens would've looked like the HID kit in my car. Also I bought that topeak iphone drybag. Oddly having your iphone on your stem is the perfect place for it. Bought all this because im getting back into commuting. Pretty excited.
  5. Anyone else find it hilarious that the Mumbai attack was on 7-11? Never forget. http://ibnlive.in.com/news/5-years-of-711-attacks-victims-await-justice/166485-3.html
  6. Anyone else find it hilarious that the Mumbai attack was on 7-11? whoops wrong thread.
  7. How do you think two homo punjabis would "do away" with a perfectly good corpse?
  8. Once again it's not about the cause. It's about the qualifications. Is Invisible People qualified enough to lead the attack on the LRA? Not if they think kony's in uganda. They're using eight year old soundbites to get your money. Think about that. A company who claims to be all about making the problem in africa visible, is betting that you've never seen a video from them before in your life and is reusing old footage in a bid for your donations. Are you catching the irony in that? It's ironic on multiple levels so i hope you're at least getting some of it.
  9. Because my roommate from india is having a sleepover with another dude in his room. Doors closed all day. I asked him what they were doing in there. He said, "studying." /not the first time i rented a room out to a gay couple. IS the first time I've rented the room out to a dude who studies a lot with other dudes behind closed doors.
  10. They've been at it for a while. You just don't read. http://www.npr.org/2011/06/23/137362363/foreign-policy-legalization-wont-make-it-better http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/apr/03/us-bank-mexico-drug-gangs On that second one, that amount of moneys not coming from drugs.
  11. How can you be a libertarian if you support a cause that wants YOUR money so the united states government to do something about kony? Liberals believe that the government should be used for social welfare. Libertarians would tell this whole group of liberals to fuck off. That's why it's called LIBERAL guilt.
  12. I have no problem with journalists who devote ten years of their lives to ANY topic. That to me shows dedication, but at what point in that video does it sound like you're donating to him as a not-for-profit filmmaker? Where does he just go "Hey, I just make films. Give me some money so I can continue to bring you news from africa." No he says, "Give me money so we can stop the bloodshed in uganda and arrest kony." Here's where I have a problem with this guy: He CLAIMS to have spent 1/3 of $8+ million in proceedsto making films, but all of the footage in that video came from 2004. In fact, he wants you to donate to Uganada 2004. Kony and the LRA since then have been pushed back to fucking Somalia. He's not even in Uganda. THe guy in the video says nothing about the social change in the last eight years. That would be like showing you pictures of New York from 9/11 and NOTHING ELSE, then telling you in 2010 to donate to me so I can help make videos about Bin Laden because that's going to change things for New Yorkers.... Then you have another 1.4 million spent this year on salaries for their board, which they say is so few people that they cant apply for a better business bureau certificate or whatever. And maybe I just dont get this because I think social media websites are a waste of time and don't use google+, facebook, none of them. To that tune I think 12oz is a big fucking waste of time too, yet ive been here on and off for the last ten years, but I don't come on here to be social. I come on here because for whatever reason this is the only place I find people who like to talk about things that I find important. My biggest gripe from all this isnt even the filmmaker turned wannabe LRA assassin. I fucking hate how mindless and yet obligatory facebook has become to anyone's social life. You have to keep a facebook page fully stocked of new photos of you living some park/club life. If you have 800 friends on facebook, you're instantly attractive to girls. If you dont have a facebook page at all they think you're a weirdo. A whole lot of weirdness comes out through that website and everyone seems to forget why that may be: It was invented by a dude with no social skills and autism who needed to build a machine that would run his social life.

  14. I think my response to you was on point. Right here ^^^^ is one more example of an american saying "I wish someone would do something about that africa thing." Why don't you go fucking do something if it matters to you so much? Why the fuck are you waiting for someone else? Everybody is online right now telling everyone else to watch this shitty video and do something about Uganda, but NOBODY is doing it for themselves so fuck off with your liberal guilt. I've got enough of it already.
  15. Re: kony 2012 In your mind making this post is probably the equivalent of throwing bags of rice out of the back of red cross truck as it moves from african village to african village. The entire continent is probably rising out of poverty as you hit reply. With the imaginary africa in your mind nourished and safe, your white guilt subsides, you've convinced yourself you're a good person, and you can finally go back to watching cougar town. But Im glad you feel better about yourself by defending the video. THATS what Facebook should do. They should get rid of the "like" button and put an "I'm a good person" button on the homepage page that people can click themselves and feel smug. 12pack would be sitting on his computer going click click click click click click click click click click click.....
  16. Can you all just delete Facebook now?
  17. They're still touring in 2012. KORN 2012 PROP THIS POST SO EVERYONE'S AWARE OF HOW SERIOUS THIS IS.
  18. Re: kony 2012 It's like they're saying "Is it dumb yet? How bout now?"
  19. Re: kony 2012 I hope you're right, but I personally believe this is just another Occupy Wallstreet, P-Diddy's "Rock the vote", or any other movement aimed at lazy useless internet-thumping teens.
  20. Re: kony 2012 @ Fist I guess thats where I differ with you man. I don't see anything good, caring, concerning, empathetic about liking a video. I see people being forced to feel guilty about living far away from Uganda, and a whole lot of americans passing the buck... then feeling self righteous about what a good buck passer they are. Think about the entire message of that video: "Pass the buck to us, so we can pass the buck to the united states government, because we much rather sell teeshirts, make videos, and whine to Obama than do anything for ourselves."

  22. Re: kony 2012 Yeah but don't mistake memes and criticisms of Invisible Children's sincerity for apathy towards Uganda. Here's a better one ^^^^ If liking videos on Facebook is somehow obligatory in 2012, that's the video to like.
  23. Because most of their money doesn't come from selling drugs. These are people who hijack oil tankers and sell them.
  24. Re: kony 2012 More like if you didn't feel empathy BEFORE the video, but now that it's popular you do, something's wrong with you.
