  1. hes even my friend and i agree...
  2. Fermentor. Yeah, halloween is a bullshit event now. I don't really dig it. If I wanna do those drugs, I can do them any other day with better weather and fewer people around. Personally the way I like it. As for the grades and whatnot. I realised after my first semester that the bullshit and attrition rate are inherit to the structure of the school. In allowing the students to have the freedom to make amazing things, you get some shit things too. I think it also varies per class. This last year had some amazing visual arts div iii's. A lot of the people are pretty pretentious as you said. But there are lots of brilliant and amazing people there too. I rationalize it as that it's like any school, but because of the smaller amount of people it is very apparent who is a dick and who isn't. The thing I have mostly come to appreciate about the place was when I got kicked out my first semester. I didn't do anything academically and rightfully I was released from enrollment. But, because in the appeals process you are allowed to communicated directly to the person who was making the decision with my appeal, it helped me to clearly and effectively artiulate why I should be allowed to return. Beyond that, I can't imagine going to any other school at this point. My personal politics, even if in disagreement with most kids at my school, would be much less suited anywhere else. anywho, back to the thread... so god=mams? when did that happen?
  3. and i like you in so much as we dont talk about politics...
  4. my friend was looking at random rammstein videos on youtube. and i looked over at some point, and that entire scene unfolded before our very eyes. we were confused, and very stoned, and confused.
  5. ^^thats when the tires aren't lockin up...
  6. you both have some respect for eachother. or at least treat eachother with some.
  7. Re: An Inconvient Truth a wrong assumption aparently. either way. gore would have been better than bush, and a vote for third party was a vote for bush.
  8. Re: An Inconvient Truth i hope you enjoy the world now. compliments your vote.
  9. no way man. its nothing special just a dinner you can pay for a ticket for. just so happens its a small event in houston. imagine that.
  10. oh you know. maybe it was back when one of his main influences in college was one of the first people in the world to test for CO2 levels in the fifties and sixties... maybe then. or maybe it was when he wrote his first book on the subject and was roundly criticized as being a radical. maybe it was after. must have been your right. totally not his actual convictions as a person.
  11. can we keep it here? i wanted non serious responses mostly. plus its interesting to see mostly Channel 0 people talkin bout this stuff.
  12. basically the gist of the video is O'reilly twice refferenced the massacre of American troops at Maledey during WWII as an atrocity commited by americans. A dude on msnbc serves it to him. If you can't see it, I go to msnbc.com and search the videos. Or you can go to the onion.com, and look around for it in the feed.

Any body got anything they want me to ask him? I'm already plannin on askin for a job or if he knows anyone (ha). I figure the worst he can say is no. So I figure ill ask a couple questions of other people's as well. Post your Questions here, I figure lil less than a week is good enough time to hear some good questions. "pollution baaad!"
  15. goddamn did homeboy fuck up this time. got his card pulled, finally. O'reilly gets it
  16. Re: An Inconvient Truth agreed. it is just very frustrating to see my mother hindered in the job she was hired to do by those who hired her to do it.

  19. Re: An Inconvient Truth i think im gonna ask al gore for a job this wednesday. i figure the worst that can happen is he will say he can't help me. that he is glad to see i am a young person concerned with these issues, and then be annoyed for the thirty seconds he remembers me. but if he says yes, well then goddamnit i got a job through al gore. symbols- yeah. its just like how "the debate among scientests over evolution still thrives"... the ability to keep accepted scientific theory out of mainstream thought by using its own language against it is old hat. its fucking annoying. it doesn't help, however, that a large majority of the scientific community has no clue how to communicate with the general public. right now, my mom is dealing with a perfect example of this. She is the public outreach and advocacy person for the EDF in houston. The unfortunate thing is that because the foundation itself is mostly comprised of scientists, economists and their ilk, they have no conceptions of communication or marketing. They hire my mom to do so, but when she is actually progressing with making contacts within large orginizations and creating some good buzz about their projects, she has her hands tied because the higher ups want a "grass roots" initiative. This is the problem with the scientific community and social initiatives being directed by them. Because of either only the concern with the actual issue at hand, eg fixing global warming, or a lack of understanding as to how to initiate social change, eg missing the big picture, they end up with this bullshit stance that does nothing to actually inform people. This "save the environment one person at a time" bullshit is rediculous. I don't understand why these people whom obviously care about what is going on and want to create change find themselves so shortsighted within their own beurocracy, agendas, and lack of public understanding. Everytime my mom tells me about the goings on of her office, I wonder how I, at nineteen years old, can immediately see the problem and find a solution but they can't. I wish I could talk some logistics in to these people so that perhaps some good could actually come of the information and programs they are pushing. Either way. I think this dinner wednesday will be rather interesting. I have a bunch of shit I wanna say to and ask of the ex-vice-pres.
  20. Re: An Inconvient Truth They are both doing pretty noble things. Clinton has been working with his own non-profits to help increase the health among america's youth. Diabeties is quickly becoming a major problem among our children and at least hes tryin to help with that. My mom went to an advanced screening of this film tonight. She works for the environmental defense fund, and is quickly becoming closely associated with a lot of this sort of stuff. She said the film is quite sobering as to the severity of our current situation. Which I can only hope will impact people in some large manner. Next wednesday I am going to a dinner with her where we will get to speak to Gore himself about the film and other things. It should be fun. A friend of mine at school, his film thesis was a documentary on his car that runs on vegetable oil. I think I am gonna give Gore a copy. It is a rather amazing documentary. He was able to interview many of the figure heads within the greasecar movement. Along with those people he also got Morgan Freeman, Yoko Ono, Tommy Chong and Noam Chomsky. Chomsky has some crazy shit to say about the historical context of america's transfer to a commuting oil driven society. Freeman actually is rather involved in the community as he is a partner in a newly formed biodesiel refinement company. They are opening the first biodesiel refinement plant in america in Lousianna in the next several years. There have been tons of recent articles and reports about the effect of global warming. I have access to most of them if people are interested. Lemme know and I will post if people want em. When I say reports, I mean studies carried out. Not just the news reports about those studies.
  21. hampshire college. its a pretty redicluous place. there are some very brilliant people here and there are some very stupid people here. and then some inbetween. but overall the structure is pretty awesome. it's a trip to be able to act within a community almost as freely as one would wish and still be able to be taken seriously academically. e.g. producing a large body of work before we graduate. our structure is closer to grad school than contemporary undergrad structures. some would call it a hippy school. and i agree. they are everywhere. but there are a few that arent bad.
