    KABAR...

i don`t understand why people seem to be so against to kabar. i mean its nice to have people on the board that are above the age of 16 and dont act like assholes, dickride, or act like the 90210 cast of the 12 oz graffiti board. i dont always agree with what he says but he is respectful and seems like a decent guy. maybe im just not on the boards enough to see what you guys do.
  2. i wish i had a cd burner and i would. i have deck II which is dope. i like it much better than protools. i ended up getting a copy off my sound teacher.

    NORTH KOREA

yeah i know. ive been all over asia and i only felt unwanted in south korea. but on a positive note im thinking about going again to meet up with some writers in pusan to hopefully change my mind. i did meet alot of nice people. its hard to put into words. i guess the atmosphere felt unwelcoming as i sat at a table for 45 minutes and watched everyone else get served that came after me. no one wanted to take my order from the picture menu mind you. i understand your suspicion on info coming from the US press. but even i fear them a bit. when they come to port in northern japan they blast the nk national anthem and have been told numerous times that they wont be let into the docks if they continue. they seem to want a fight. perhaps because of the past and the present way that nkoreans suffer in japan today. alot of them have been here since the cold war and have no visa, and either do their children that were born in japan. they literally are of no nationality. i believe they have alot of propaganda there and could easily be lead to believe that their poverty is due to japan and the US rather than because of kim jong il.
  4. truthfully i think people should be able to walk the earth and work and live wherever they want. maybe without nation pride we can stop fighting eachother. but just to play devils advocate, im just curious why people think its ok to enter another country illegally and work, live etc, without any regard for laws. it shows disrespect and it implies that illegals are just oppourtunists. i wanted to live in japan. i did research on what qualifies a visa. americans are required to have a university diploma in order to recieve a 3 year visa and renew it by having a fulltime job sponsor it or get married and recieve a 1 year visa. i graduated, moved to japan, got a job, got a visa, and continue to renew it every 3 years through a company sponsor. if i dont qualify i believe i should get the fuck out of japan. plain and simple. why the hell is it ok for mexicans to crawl through sewer pipes into the US and come bus tables? not to mention steal waiters tips. sorry for that last comment. not all mexicans are theives just the ones i worked with at 5 different restaurants throughout my 7 years of waitering.

    NORTH KOREA

my japanese friend and i were talking and he was under the impression that the rape of nanking never occured and that actually the chinese did it to eachother and they blamed it on the japanese. its obvious that the textbooks are glossing over what bad people the japanese became during that time. now im not a diplomat and i dont really know how you can make up for the loss of life. no apology or amount of money can change the horrible effects of war. so what is a sufficent apology? i was under the impression that japan never apoligised to china or korea. but i did some research and found there have been many apologies. one even from the emperor himself when he visited beijing. also the japanese have poured millions of yen into the chinese economy. what else can they do? i guess the only country that i can think of is germany that many people agree have apoligised sufficiently. is america ever going to say sorry for agent orange, or god knows what they used during the gulf war on our own soldiers? as for north korea. they are scary. they wouldnt last a week in a war. kim jong knows this and i believe he wouldnt hesitate to press the button and send off nukes into tokyo before getting his wig split. south korea. well to be honest they are just morons to me. north korea dug tunnels under seoul in the event of an invasion so they could just pop out in the middle of the city. yet during these recent talks they stall and seem to side with north korea. when i went to south korea the people were really unfriendly in general. alot of restaurants refused me service. the writers were cool though. but in general i felt very unwelcome. my guess was because of the US base. which on one hand i can understand. who wants jar heads from nebraska causing trouble in your city, but if they werent there they would most likely be invaded the day after the US pulled out. my plan, send a few highly trained individuals to take out kim jong. problem solved. north korea can either join with south korea or establish their own country and live in peace and without poverty without a midget dictator. any volunteers?
  6. it looks like the english title will be hidden blade not devils claw. oni no tsume kakushi ken translates to devils claw hidden blade which sounds cooler than hidden blade but whatever. same director as twilight samurai heres a write up on it hidden blade
  7. if you like this film also check devil's claw. i don`t if they are bringing it to the US or not but it was pretty cool as well.
  8. as a side note. i love BBC. great journalism. i especially like hard talk. i really hate CNN and fox news. sorry carry on.
  9. bbc Gaza settlers face uneasy future By Alan Johnston BBC News, Gaza The hotels at Gush Katif settlement closed a long time ago In the ruins of the Palm Beach Hotel, you get a sense that an era is drawing to an end, that Israel's settlement project in Gaza is entering its last days. Since the outbreak of the Palestinian uprising, Gaza has become a violent, dangerous place. People don't come on holiday anymore. The Palm Beach resort complex, in the southern Gush Katif settlement bloc, was abandoned years ago. And everything that the Israelis have built here - nearly 20 settlements housing several thousand people - will be abandoned if Ariel Sharon's plan to withdraw from Gaza goes ahead in August. Squatters The Palm Beach's reception and dining room have been stripped of fixtures and furniture. The wind off the sea blows in across floors strewn with broken glass. I love Gush Katif. Great beaches. Good surf. Good fishing. It will be very difficult to leave Elazaar Elchiam, surfer A surfer called Elazaar Elchiam is among a handful of young Israelis who live in the decaying hotel, squatting in an apartment. He grew up in a nearby settlement, but he knows that this may well be his last summer on Gaza's beach. "Since I was little, I've been coming down to the sea," he says. "I love Gush Katif. Great beaches. Good surf. Good fishing. It will be very difficult to leave." The settlers have been outraged by the disengagement plan from the outset - and many are determined to resist it to the end. Action planned In recent weeks, empty apartments in the Palm Beach complex have begun filling up with what are being described as reinforcements. These are supporters of the settlement movement from the West Bank or Israel itself who will be here for any showdown with the army when the evacuation begins. It is too hard to think that they are going to give it to terrorists Debbie Rosen, settler The settlers are appalled by the possibility that their homes may be taken over by Palestinian militants who have been attacking Gush Katif for years. To prevent that happening, the Israelis may demolish all their property before they leave. "You don't want to destroy what you built," says Debbie Rosen, who raised her six children in Gush Katif. "It's home with all the memories that you grew up with... It's my kids, it's my garden, my flowers that I just planted. It's home. "On the other hand, it is too hard to think that they are going to give it to terrorists. Terrorists that killed my best friends - and they are going to celebrate in my home. It's too hard." Loathing Under international law, Gaza has been occupied territory since Israeli troops captured it in 1967. By establishing civilian settlements here, Israel breached the Geneva Conventions - the rules of warfare. But for the settlers, this is meaningless. "I never relate to my home as occupied territory," says Debbie Rosen, who thinks of Gaza as part of Israel - part of the land that God promised the Jews. Israeli settler But just a few kilometres away, in the Palestinian town of Khan Younis, the occupation is far from meaningless. It is hated, and the settlements - and the soldiers who protect them - are regarded as its purest form. For decades the Israeli presence has twisted and restricted and endangered Palestinian lives in many ways. For the people of Khan Younis, the beach at Gush Katif used to be an escape from the summer heat in their poverty-stricken alleyways. But since the outbreak of the Palestinian intifada (uprising), the army has blocked their route to the sea. Khan Younis has lost its beach. And nobody has lost more than Mohammad Shaath. He used to operate a cafe on the beach - the Cafe El Andalus. But the army's restrictions have meant that he has not been able to see it for years. As a foreigner, I could make the short trip easily. And I found the cafe - gone to ruin. The sands of the beach have invaded the terrace, where Palestinians used to enjoy fresh fish, drink coffee and sit and watch the sea. While his cafe has rotted, Mr Shaath, up in Khan Younis, has been unemployed - sinking gradually into poverty. He says that if the Israelis go, he'll take out a loan and bring the El Andalus back to life. Differing views The settlers would certainly say that Mr Shaath should blame his troubles on the militants who launched the intifada and began attacking the settlers. The army only blocked the Palestinian road to the beach because it would have been very dangerous to allow easy access to the settlement area. But there was a voice of dissent among the settlers. A young man on the beach said he understood what drove the Palestinian militants. He said that when Israelis were fighting to establish an independent state in the 1940s, they resorted to violence. The young settler clearly felt that the Palestinians had endured injustice at Israel's hands. "We are guilty," he said. "They want a country." finally an israeli i agree with
  10. like previously stated this movie really sucked. the only positive thing i could say is that i like the integration of computer anime and live action. i could give you guys a heads up on whats good and whats bad if you want but i figure that theres not a lot of people on here that like japanese film.
  11. im curious if chinas success isnt a bubble like japans was. personally im optimistic and think it isnt but economics isnt my strongpoint. all i know is that if everyone started using the euro with buying trading etc america would be finished. the thing i find really interesting about china is how well they speak english compared with japan. they knew from the beginning. speaking english is the greatest weakness of the japanese. did anyone see crazy english documentary? i thought it was pretty interesting.
  12. whats even funnier is that gurnee illinois is known for miles of strip malls selling only defective stuff. like the polo horse riding upside down

  15. When it comes to the 5% elite controlling 95% of the populations wealth, i guess i chalk it up to yin and yang. its very similar to bush`s war on terrorism. light cant exist without darkness. can we really have a equal and fair society? before it was whites and against blacks. now its hetro vs homo, christianity vs islam. we made monopoly laws only to strengthen the present megamillion $ corporations. that is just a part of capitalism as much as it is a part of life. i don`t think communism is the answer. look at china. as soon as they had the chance to be capitalists they began making money at such a rate that they now have one of the most inequal levels of wealth distribution in the world. When i was in college alot of friends that had graduated always tried to persuade me to drop out because they said hey look at me, i graduated and i dont have the job i want. well 5 years later i am in a different country, got the job i had went to school for(though i eventually quit it), and im talking crap on the internet now. my friends are doing the same thing they were 5 years ago.
  16. is kinda strange but interesting how countries tend to butcher other countries food to fit their tastes. for example chop suey doesnt exist in china. sushi doesnt = japanese food. sushi isnt even a main dish in japan more of an appetizer. wheres the tacoyaki, okinomiyake, udon, soba on the damn menu?? also avocado in the sushi is definitely a no no. the japanese version of pizza never ceases to churn my stomach. mayonaise, corn, squid, shrimp, octopus ink, bamboo, chicken all together i`m sure makes italians turn over in their graves. japanese tend to use mayonaise on anything and everything. mayo and white rice, sweet bread mayo butter and a hotdog combo. then if i order french fries they look at me strange if i ask for more than one ketchup. japanese version of curry over white rice is nasty to me. i love korean bimbimba without the beef and ecoli raw egg on top. Japanese tsukemono and rice (japanese pickles), umeboshi (pickled plums), nato ( fermented soybeans) agedofu (fried tofu) nimono (sea vegatables) and udon.
  17. It`s all about the euro mags Wanted from Spain Style file from Germany
  18. duh.. rereading that i seemed to have missed the class system comment but i think his point is you cant change the power system so dont just sit around pumping gas for a living and say oh woe is me.
  19. yeah i was just joking. you couldnt really use a katana in any sort of defense other than killing someone. and where im at one look at a tall white boy is enough to send a japanese burglar running.
  20. ive been doing iaidou which is pretty cool. i can slice a person in half while sitting down on the floor drinking tea. :king: but hell i certainly cant walk around with a katana up my sleeve. its very similar to kendo without the yelling and screaming. no sport - all art.

bush should have wiped out kim jung before he went after sadam. the north koreans would have appreciated being liberated much more than the iraqis. kim jong is a 4 foot tall mole with platforms and a hairdo outta bride of frankenstein. it would kinda be like the monkey vs the mole. i often think about that ren and stimpy episode where stimpy is told not to press the big red button but he just can`t resist the temptation to press it.
