i see. thanks guys for the views. but to mainter, i'm not just starting out i use illustrator photoshop and dreamweaver at least 3 times a day and ive been doing a lot of site designing, and graphics for people latley so thats why im thinking mac might be the right way to go since ive heard a lot of designers say to get one, but im just trying to get more opinions before i invest in somthing that costs so much (or at least for my budget) And as far as macs making me a better designer, i know im not going to be and wasnt expecting it. i'm just looking for somthing that will ALLOW me to become a better designer due to performance, reliability and so forth, because right now my computer freezes with just about any move i make in illustrator and photoshop even with no other programs running. and its became so bad ive actually been closing explorer.exe to save memory. but thanks again for all the input.

come on common sense the only reason there is no spyware and or viruses is cause hackers dont want to waste there time in making any because only 14% of computer users use a MAC so theres no money for spyware or credit for the hackers who make a MAC virus in the same degree when they make one for PC

weaksuace, have you tried adjusting the virtual memory?

by adjusting do you mean adding more? because I would have already done that option by now, but I have RDram which is nearly twice as much as DDR and not as good... (and considering I only have 256mb it would take a lot to upgrade to a substantial ammount) so if I were to get more ram I'd be forking out the money for a new motherboard that supports DDR ram so I could get at least a gig. and by then it would cost around $300 or so...

Does anyone here have any experience with apple notebooks and how well they work for graphic design? (EX running photoshop, illustrator, and a few other programs at the same time) and if so, are they worth the money?

so when i go to shutdown my computer, it takes a while, and

eventually all these programs, mainly "explorer" and an un-named

one freeze and pop-up windows come up and i have to click end task

wait five seconds, click end task again and so on for a couple of

minutes before it eventually shuts down...

any advice would be muchly appreciated.

After firefox started being slow, I closed it and then clicked on the icon to start it again. It asked me to pick a profile (it's never done that before), and then I picked the only one there. It gave me some bullshit reason I couldn't use that one (it said it was already in use). It said I could create a new one, so i did. Then I checked do not ask this again. Now when I open up firefox, everything is gone. All my bookmarks, saved passwords, everything (some of which I need). Is there anyway to get back to the other profile (it's not letting me pick the profile). I hope that wasn't too vague, but I'd like some help.

Anyone?

HeavyLox already correctly answered you in your thread. The answer lies in the task manager ctrl+alt+del your way there and go to processes... You will probably see at least one instance of firefox running. Close them out.... You may want to uninstall firefox and reinstall it fresh. This actually happened to me once and I think it's because I updated firefox and it overlayed an entire new copy of firefox over my old one so at times I would have two instances of firefox running.

But yeah cancel your firefox processes, then you will probably want to uninstall and remove the program and get a new one.

sometimes the task manager doesn't work for ending processes, these aren't viruses or spyware, what's the problem? also sometimes i try to shut down, explorer and all the other programs end, the desktop background and mouse pointer are still there, and it doesn't shut down.

that program looks good, i'll download it

just downlaoded process explorer. i'll give it a workthrough and see how it goes. looks very nice.

arcel, buddy..dude....heh. you get your regular updates for windoze? got your antivirus updated? spyware killers?

windows is an inferior OS, it has some crappy things that happen alot of the time, i'd download windows 2000pro and install it.

it's the best OS microcrap makes.

also: a problem i'm ahving on my server computer(the one with the wireless router hooked up) it will no longer read the windows update page,. shows up blank. anyone ever encounter this problem? any solutions? hints? much appreciated.
