^^That's a bummer.

DOT3... It doesn't burn, stain, fog, or ghost

anything. If you see a ghost... it's the greasy

oil that is left behind. Skag is correct. About a

hundred pages back we had this very same

discussion. DOT3 is just to prolong the drying

time to allow for super long drips. This is true.

This incredible rumor about it doing anything

other than being oily and making your drying

time longer is just that... An incredible rumor.

Try it out. Go put some DOT3 on metal and

see if it eats into it. See if it eats into anything.

It won't even "eat" it's way through paper.

Try it.

Good luck...

Mixing high quality inks is a great idea.

EJim... Is your paint latex or oil based??

Just because it's in a bucket doesn't mean

that it's oil based, and thinning latex with

thinner will destroy it. Don't put alcohol in

paint. Read the first page of this thread.

Tons on information.

If it's latex paint you can use water to

thin it. Don't put it in anything but a mop

or a drip bottle, and don't expect the mop

to last. The latex dries too fast and will turn

the nib into a rubber clogged up nib.

Go for the drip bottle, or white out pen with

the latex. Good luck...

You can say what you want... but you

can't push advertisements. You can

talk about mixing bands and using the

brand name. Just don't drop links to

shops when it doesn't apply.

I have recently fell back in love with

DED insides. Found a few old bottles

in some boxes and threw some inside

blue into a kiwi... Goddamn... it's so

smooth. I personally mix DED and

Oink in mops:

...and I totally put Oink

in Griffin when I can find it:

Keep your eye's open for Griffin at old

shoe repair stores and places of that

sort. It rules.

It's probably best if you guys take those flicks

down, or at least don't express any personal

involvement. It's bad for you and the site.

Lot's of local PD's are taking etch really seriously

and they are totally on the internet. I doubt that

any enforcement agents are on this thread, but

they are totally on this site... that's for sure.

And using etch is one small step down from

breaking the window, with a brick that has your

tag on it, because only a small percent of etched

windows can be repaired. So while graffiti IS illegal,

for the most part it can be buffed out. Local PD's

are taking etch as a serious criminal offense because

of the cost to replace a 4x10 foot plate of glass. $$$.

I am not, never have been and will never be, a cop.

I am not associated with any enforcement agency

against anything... except for bike thieves. Steal a

bike, I steal you in your grill.

Word up.

It doesn't matter what YOU know or think.

I know that it's easy for ME to figure out, so it's

easy for the wrong people to figure out as well.

Personally I don't subscribe to "Nice Bikes."

But thanks for the pointless comment.

why did you tape up the whole mop?

very curious

20:

When you mix the Etch Bath with

the Etch cream it has a thicker

consistency and stays on the window

longer than with just the bath. It's

actually REALLY dangerous to people

walking by that might touch it while

it's still wet. More Etch means more

burnt window causing the white. That

white stuff can be scraped off easily.

But you still have a super deep etch.

Thirst:

I tape up that mop so that if

I don't have time to stash it in my

pocket I can just make a fist. You

wont see a black mop in my hand,

but you will see a bright white one.

You're fine, but it's a in the future

kinda thing.

The Cream burns more than the Bath.

When you mix them, you get drips but

a lot of it just sits and works longer than

normal. Nasty stuff if that's what you are

trying to do.

You should be fine on the flicks. All I was

saying was don't self promote etching on a

public website. IP addresses tell more than

you think. Good luck...

the cream really burns more?

it left a chaulky type thing that could be wiped off with water...

Totally true. The chalky white stuff is the leftover

acid burnt window. The more the of the white chalky

stuff, that can be easily wiped off, the deeper they

etch has actually burned. Just think of the white

chalky as the ash after a fire.

Kinda the same thing.

Just the bath alone will not really get the white

ash. It burns only a small amount and leaves

the window hazy, or fogged over. This type of

etch (the Bath) can be repaired in some cases

but the cream does major destruction.

Hope that explained it better.
