  1. I've been playing with inks for more than a hot minute now, heres my current stance on inks. All I use now is Marsh black dye with about 1/4 Violet garvey, and a touch of nero for no reason at all. For the weather conditions around here, it seems to have the best results outdoors. Garvey on its own for streets, I havent found any good at all. About 1 in 20 things hit gets stained. Same with nero. THEY DO HOWEVER kill insides the best. Same with fiebings. I now always mix 3/4 Marsh with everything and it works destructivly. I'm going to get some white pigment marsh and mix with the Garvey, as I've heard many good things. Destruction comes first.
  2. Chapelle is the ONLY comedian who pulls the race card correct. He's breaking down stereotypes by shedding light on them. No white comedian could touch the shit he does, and its far overdue. His performance is smart, and humbling. Taking the power out of racism. Society needs this type of shit in order to move forward.
  3. my list... - realizing you've been up for three days straight on shroomz, powder, ecstacy, and hard liquor... and THEN realizing that "this is why I can't hang out with you guys!", and laughing with your hood friends till reality sets in, and realizing you have a better life now and shouldn't do that shit any more. :burn: - 50 cent noodles - popcorn (its cheap AND odd enough, filling!) - Old English 800's being re-introduced to Vancouver cold beer and wine stores a few years ago, and being really exited bout it. - Wearing your lokes whenever you god damn feel like it (night included) - The stress of knowing the only thing that will ever make you truely happy is dedicating yourself to the true writer lifestyle, and at the same time acknowledging that you love money... for better or worse. One day. - Knowing your student loan is large and that you have commited yourself as much to grafitti as to success in your professional life, so deal with it. - Never settling on a name, even after years of praise. (maybe just stupid.) - Accepting lond distance charges for the man in lockdown, even though its $1.50 a fucking minute. - Getting busted being ballsy in front of a plain clothed officer with a pilot silver broad. - Walking through a crowd of dodgey cats straight faced holding your own, then getting through and breathing that sigh of releif. - Being the only positive "get out of your shitty situation cat" in your clique. And always getting booed for it. - Telling your girl you aint gonna drink, then as soon as she gone slippin out to grab the OE, even though you love her so much. (being a closet alcoholic / boozehound) - Hitting the streets in the hopes that one day you will meet an experienced bomber in your area who has been down the same road as you, and inspires you to BOMB, not just get high like your old school friends. - Knowing you are fully devoted to grafitti for better or worse, and may never meet another writer who isnt stuck on some negative bullshit. ... thats it. Seems this was the best place to vent. Cool. Thanks for listening. Peace. <<Religion>> __________________________________________________________________
  4. Hey, whats the score on boiling inks... I live in a small apartment and want to know what the stench factor is. Also, should this be done with Garvey and Fiebings? Low heat? Is it even worth it?
  5. Is that Obae and Werd done in Vancouver, and when!? Its dope, I dont remember seeing it.
  6. Yeah, All the arts are saturated. I myself am in a classical animation course. The markets flooded with mediocre artists, but very few really great ones. This animation course is cool because I've talked to people who have worked for Disney, Nick, Warner Bros. etc. and also in graphic design. All very talented cats who still work, and teach on the side. The course I'm in squeezes two years of university level years into one. Its fucking nuts. But, on the flip, I'm acctually noticing myself getting better. I might suggest getting your line quality real tight and applying to your local in house animators. The schooling has for sure put me a cut above the rest of the fine artists out there I think. If you are a REALLY good with volumes, model design, drawing for days without sleep, and can sell yourself really good, animation is the way to go. Helps you with your painting skills too. I love it. P.S. Don't waste your time with school if graffiti is your absolute life priority. It was a hard call for me, but I don't want to end up working at Swiss Chalet/Janitor/Trade type jobs. Happiness first. Doing somthing I enjoy that will increse my skill as an artist, to support somthing I love. (bombing) As much as I'd like to think being a vagrant artist would kick ass, I have to fund it somehow. Got rent?
  7. oh oh I've got one ... " I heard from a reliable source that Revok was at a circus doing a crazy throwie on an elephant, aaaan the elephant got mad and tried to crush Revok, but Revok just jumped on the elephant and started riding him around and did crazy mad throwies all around the circus tent and then the cops came and and Revok got busted but then he used an MSK jet pack to fly to the top of the circus tent and write "FUCK THE POLICE" in summer squash rusto, then I guess he just jetted" << Heres another toy responding to that post >> " MSK jetpack? That sounds like it just might be crazy enough to work. It certainly would explain how they get to all those crazy mad spots yo! Yo, I heard that Sever was there too, just sitting in the audience with the rest of MSK doing mad tags in the air cheering on Revok while this all went down! " <<OK I'm spent>> :clown2:
  8. you are not that bad. Your line quality is good for a beginner, although some of your colour schemes should be re evaluated. The name is gonna get you alot of disses while you come up. Keep at it, good luck.
  9. Beating the fuck out of my ass was pretty popular unil I got big and beat the fuck out of everybody who laid hands on me. HA! Done playin'.
  10. You know... it's shitty, all I really want for christmas is some Corio ink to add to my collection... but there is none for us Canadians to be had. :hatred: I'm pretty happy with any rare Simpsons figure though (Gill, Troy McLure, Sarcastic man, Artie Pie eye in the sky, etc.) So far I've got a pretty good selection. (shrug.)
  11. Dear WhiteOx, Garvey fades in the sun. Mix it with a non fading base, ie. Marsh. If you read back a few pages youll see plenty of talk about it. Anyone who posts in this thread without reading it is looking like an ass and getting dissed. This thread has pretty much any question you can ask covered, and then some. READ IT ALL!!! I'm pretty sure this questioned is greuled over for the 100th time only a page or two back. ALL NEW HEADS!!! READ THIS WHOLE THREAD!!! PRINT IT OUT!!! DONT LOOK LIKE A FAG... for some it's already too late. :D
  12. I wouldn't mind seeing some 12oz crew participation on this one. ;)
  13. If anyones looking for advice to speed up the "style" process, start just practicing straight lines and circles. It sounds simple, but try and you will see. Drawing perfect circles and lines will give you insight into why the best writers are respected for their work. Try drawing your name in any font on Word perfectly by hand. Not so easy is it. My mentor taught me this years ago, and I still follow these rules. Lines and circles are the basis for any well written type. Perfect circle, perfect line = the basis for any great style..
  14. ...oops, just so yall kats know, the street scene is PENCIL, LEAD ONLY.
  15. Sorry... just pencil. I realize that sounds fucked up now. H,HB,2B,3B,4B, etc. The colour IS pencil lead. I'll go back and try to fix that.
  16. Stylized buildings, with graff ON them if you really want. The foucus is on the street though. The style of the buildings is more important than the style ON the buildings... get me. Secondly, yeah maybe the 6th is not enough time, so I'll not set a date for sure until Starz sez a time he feels is more appropriate for this thread. I don't know how often kats check this thread, this is my first venture in here. If Starz doesn't post a suggested reply time by Sunday December 5th, I'll extend until the 10th. Sound fair?
  17. I will battle anyone on a street scene, one colour pencil drawing. Basicly... a skyline, storefronts, projects, etc. It can be as big as you like (mine will probably be about 3ft by 1ft). If there are any takers, submissions should be posted by Monday, December 6th @ noon. Starz (everyone), this is my first battle, I just came across this thread, so If you think (recomend) I should give more time for competitors entry, let me know. I will start mine ASAP, and have it posted on Starz go ahead. Cool? I'll check back tommorow.
  18. I'm the same Omen. Tagging is my passion. Nothing beats a raw, destructive, stylish, in your face, handstyle. Preferably in large quanity.
  19. Although Chumb will still have an answer for you... I'll give it a good shot. 1) Anything to do with a spring or actuator valve, should go. 2) The cut may have to be made in the actual plastic that holds the spring in place. Anything restricting ink flow should go... the goal is to get the ink to the nib as fast as possible, no? >> If you use Kiwi's or Woodcrafts, the rules are still the same. Lose the actuator, lose the flow restrictions. Give it hell Chumba....... Peace.
  20. If your paint is thin out with paint thinner, then just throw it in a Kiwi... the best place for random shit tests.
  21. 1) Garvey stains metal surfaces as it sees fit. It is the best metal stain, but check for best results. 2) The tops on Woodcraft markers come off easy with vice grips or common plubers wrench. Try rubber gloves to start though, I find a strong grip usually does the trick. :biglaugh:
