Dude, nine communist chinese channels are not a threat to our way of life. People choose what to watch. I know youre worried abotu the kinda people that llive out in asiancourt in their little self contained ethnic enclave but the fact is that there are HUGE changes that happen from first generation immigrants to second generation...regardless of living in an enclave. I seriously doubt that communist is going to catch on with many second generation canadian chinese kids. Most of their parents came to canada to flee the reminants of the maoist era. Communist severely fucked up china, millions of people died and I would guess that the VAST majority of chinese people in china hate communism. We dont hear about many of the revolts that happen outside of the urban centers because of the censorship that controll media going in and comming OUT of china. While there might be 9 channels of communist propaganda there are about 700 channels filled with capitalist propaganda....MTV? youve just grown up in it so it doesnt come off as such. it is just as bad and just as "forcefull" if not more so. Just look at the way certain brands are "forced" on kids...in schools, vending machines etc. I mean you could even go so far to say that chinas aparent or projected success is due to a global capitalist system...industry leaves north america and moves to china to take advantage of cheap production costs etc...I dont think that nine channels are going to be strng enough to overthrow a global system. Look at Canada. We are nowhere near a swing to the left...we have just done the opposite. Harper is about as far from a communist as you can get.

I agree...that some things are in poor taste....but thats according to me. I cant really prescribe what 'poor taste' is in general. I agree that there are prenty of things much worse than communism to worry about. I dont think communism is even the real issue here, I mean.... we have a communist party in canada so it isnt as if this chinese channel is going to usher in some new thretenting force or anything....the CPC is a legit political party already anyhow.... The real issue is who gets to decide what groups get access to air time and which dont and what dictates who gets what? I guess it works as it always has...whoever can afford it can buy media time. That, to me, is the real issue.

In China people dont have the chpice to choose non partisan programing...but here we can. No one has to watch the ccp channel if they don't want to where as in communist china they were piping propaganda right into peoples bedrooms through loudspeakers. Granted I think subliminal messages and subversive cultural messages that westerners may not be aware of might be hurtfull to some people in Canada but no moreso than the political agendas that already exist in mainstream news and advertising. Free speech is free speech and barring anything that goes against the charter of rights and freedoms we need to allow equal access to media for all groups.

think ink lemurs are very nice. The first one of mine was with gouache and the second is just plain old acrylic....but i use it more like oils or so ive been told. not exactly figure drawing but thats my dog - also acrylics

yah its kinda sweet getting a cheque every now and then in the mail for $80 (I dont know why get bigger gst redunds than most). It was also awesome when I did my back taxes for 3 years and got $1500 :D but anyhow.....$400 is not worth living in alberta. Id pay $400 not to have to live there monthly.
