Summary: Five Bulgarian nurses are facing the death penalty for spreading AIDS in a Libyan hospital. Conspiracy theories pinning the origin of AIDS on a western bio-warfare program are popular in sub-Saharan Africa, where over 25 million people live with the disease. But in Muslim countries like Lybia, the shame and denial caused by the epidemic may be so great that they cannot accept it as an indigenous reality.

I missed this before.

Talk about fucked up. If this is true and those nurses really did infect 426 CHILDREN, the death penalty would be letting them off easy. Part of me thinks infecting the nurses and the 1 doctor with HIV would be a more fitting punishment.

Then you see this, "Many of the nurses have said they confessed under torture, and western medical experts have testified that the epidemic began before the nurses arrived at the hospital, probably due to poor sanitary conditions." So, who do you believe? Justice only works when truth works.

BTW: "The United States and the European Union have denounced the verdicts."
