{OneSevenNine.com}
War is quintessential for my music sanity. Handsome man and I were discussing the importance of vocal affirmations in really good songs. Noises like, HUH, YEAH and UH, these when well placed in an already excellent song, re-affirms to the listener that this song is The Shit. Not all songs with these affirmations are excellent and fakers are clearly spotted. Examples are as follows; War- Galaxy For all that my mom has given me, life and looks and whatnot, I am very grateful of her bestowing me the gift of War, Santana and Chick Corea. James Brown- Funky Good Time and of course this varies depending on what version you are listening to. This is the only one I could find that I was pleased with the sound. I like how the woman in here WHOOPS like she is really having a Funky Good Time. Melly Mel- This is the verse he did in Beat Street. I'll watch this movie any day, not just to listen to the dope songs they have throughout this movie, but just for this verse. Please listen at 2:30 A-RAH! earl broclo ESQ
Thanks man. I don't actually have the Babe Ruth album. I have that on a compilation. It's a great comp that gives you the whole song. I have a few that give you lame ass edits, but oh well. That Black Dog track is new to me. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for it. Do you do this Jam of the Day blog? earl broclo ESQ
I like this Don Francisco character. He's got 4 posts and they're all in this thread. That's a good look in my book. Holy Fuck! Both those El Chicano tracks are solid. I love the brown sound, but I must have missed them in the mix. And El Michels Affair --I've seen that record while digging and passed by it not know about it. That shit is solid too. Thanks for tuning me into them. I'm not to quick with all the contemporary stuff. Daptone Records and Breakestra is pretty much the extent of my knowledge.
