shitting
Germany doesn't like Scientology because they deem it to be in some respects near to nazism. apparently Scientology has similar ideas about ubermenschen (supermen) among other things. I just got this off a new article, but you can understand germany is politically geared against thing like that. Don't turn this into a "Germany impeding on the rights of the individual because of personal beliefs" thing. In any country the government, or the film industry, can oppose and prevent a production for any reason they like - and do and if you had read the article it said that all Germany was doing was denying permission for cruise to film the execution in the government building in which it actually took place

You're not going to making a serious film, because that is beyond you. so you don't need real locations, you can build a set with your 100m budget

stunt double
i.e fuck you tom cruise. You're not going to making a serious film, because that is beyond you. so you don't need real locations, you can build a set with your 100m budget this pretty much sums up the entire issue. i would think that beyond the scientology thing, germany doesn't want a terrible part of their history that is still fresh in the psyche of the entire nation to be turned into a stupid bruckheimer action blockbuster movie. it is within their right to refuse hollywood the right to access historical locations for filming. it isn't a documentary that is being made, it is a piece of entertainment. seeking
Tom Cruise and Scientology can eat 46 dicks, but barring a movie to be made because of the personal beliefs of a member of the cast is fucking stupid. im not reading anything else in this thread. go mams. seeks/san miguel

Mauler5150
What I find funny is how this hot German exchange student last year gave a talk in one of my units on Scientology and how much of a farce it is. You should really watch the BBC documentary on it, to see the crazy lengths they go to to stop people from exposing it as the cult it is.
