HardyHarHar
The Roma make some mean music. if you don't know, then you don't know. But damn! I've got an album by Zlatne Trube Guce and the soundtrack to Underground, and that's it. But this music is in my head 100% of the time. shai
Co-signed. European music (except hip-hop, for some reason) almost always sounds better to me than what I hear coming out of the States. Then again, I listen to a LOT of music. For the Gypsy stuff, try serbianna.com and SLSK some of the names that pop up. It's across the board, I've found everything from traditional string-band stuff to stoner rock to techno. (I can live without the techno, thank you very much.) Good call, though. On the same note, klezmer is also where it's at.
Elizabeth MontgomeryOner
I appreciate was listening to a bunch on sunday, heading out to the gypsy party on wednesday. They throw down something serious. Drinking, dancing on tables, mosh pits The gypsy stuff I know is like a mix: russian, balkan, greek, reggae...etc. etc click on it click on it Adir Adirim/Bulgarian Chicks/Gross Mahalageasca - Mahala Rai Banda Tamir Muskat, Leningrad, Slavic Soul Party (i've got a little collection, want any find me on soulseek) The new Basement Jaxx is heavily influenced. On another note I can't wait till they release their (hutz and some others) work officially: I've heard some tracks and shits the next level...I think i'll start harassing one of the dj's for the demo's... It's kinda odd (not that odd) being a young black female that I know what's going on in the current gypsy music and the scene here. If any one is ever in the ny area and wants a gypsy tour in the city holler ha belly dancers, falafels, ouzo, hookahs, so on and so on Shout outs to: Dopplegangers and all things good in that nature. thecarwreck
Gogol is fucking ill. Period. Take any "world music," drop it on punk timing, it'll be good. 60 Revolutions (Jools Holland is a twat though). Giant drums watch out for the Pantie slingshot *edit because their fiddler is a balding old russian guy who rocks berets and sleeveless slayer shirts.
