localyokel
it's funny how 'low' a price tag they put on the damage back then. these days each piece is quoted as being in the thousands..
Lt.Bernum
inflation probably has a little to do with that.... and maybe they realise graffiti on the whole isn't as hard to get rid of as first thought, therefore wacking on a bigger (tax-funded)bill, helps deters any public support of graffiti art. Found this somewhere... The NSW State Rail Authority has moved to reduce urban graffiti by protecting large sections of the new Wolli Creek railway station with a high performance anti-graffiti coating. The station is one of five in the Sydney airport rail link being constructed between the airport and the city. The Wolli Creek rail line section and station have been excavated through rock on the route and sit below street level. Parchem's TexCote Graffiti Gard 111S product has been applied to the large insitu concrete walls poured on either side of the line where large expanses of clean wall areas are likely to provide appealing surfaces for graffiti artists. Graffiti Gard 111S is a permanent anti-graffiti system designed for use where frequent graffiti removal is required or anticipated. It comprises a heavy duty, clear gloss, two part aliphatic urethane which resists graffiti penetration. It is suitable for use where extreme chemical and graffiti resistance is required. The Wolli Creek coating was spray applied over a surface prepared with a special, compatible base coat. The applicator for the project was Dukes Painting. Removal of graffiti is achieved easily and swiftly by applying TexCote Graffiti Gard 111S Paste Cleaner. Developed in the USA, TexCote Graffiti Gard 111S was used extensively at Atlanta Olympic Games venues. It can be applied to raw or already painted surfaces including concrete, brick, stucco, concrete masonry, metal, gypsum, wallboard and plaster.
