Wireless problem:

 

At work I get a strong signal and can connect to a wireless network, but when i open up firefox or IE Ican't get any webpages up, while my co worker can connect w/ her laptop no problem... any ideas what the problem is?

 

 

have you tried talking to the IT department or other co-workers on how there wireless is setup

 

you will need the wap/wep code and the ssid and firewall settings

A hacker group known as NoPE somehow managed to create a cracked Windows Vista DVD that works immediately, out of the box, with no serial number or activation keys required.

I'm playing around with Litestep and I like it so far but I'm having problems switching themes. I've downloaded .LSZ/ZIPs and tried using the theme installer but no luck. It finds the themes but can't properly install them.

 

**EDIT: I think I figured it out. Is it because the Netloadmodule needs to access the internet for modules and I wasn't online?

Seems to. Looks really configurable once I get the hang of it. I haven't messed with that computer again yet since I posted last night. Was I right about the internet connection? Did I answer my own question from before?

there should be a folder in the litestep directory that says "themes".

it's like that in darkstep....been awhile since i used either, though.

i think you can just drop the zips in there...don't think it mattered way back when.

Decompression bomb is just something that unpacks to an unusually big amount of data even though it's rather small (i.e. has a high compression ratio, for example). It's nothing to worry about, you are just informed that avast! will not try to unpack the archive (you may not even know that it's an archive, but it seems like it is) because it may take VERY long to process.

 

I'd suggest to ignore these files.

But you can change values into avast4.ini file to configure how avast should work with these files.

i got a problem with my computer, when i try to boot it up it stops before the login screen and gives me the blue screen of death (first one ive ever gotten on this computer btw) and says something about my boot_volume something or other is wrong. i cant start it up in safe mode either :[.

 

i will take a pic of what it says and post it here for some help maybe.

No. I couldnt get any of the add ons to download. Not sure if thats a factor?

I copied the crack files into the AutoCad file after I installed the program but I got an error message...

 

Something about setup is unable to validate your serial number. please initiate a reinstall via the command line, using the following syntax.

 

Then it gives some long shit, including something about firstname, last name, organization, dealer name, serial prefix, serial number.

 

Could it be to do with the personal info I entered at installation, cos i just typed in a few random letters, dont know if that matters/

Unmountable Boot Volume Error Message

Computer Crashes, they seem to happen at the most inconvenient times. Always when you need the computer the most. I've run across this boot error message many times since Windows XP was released and luckily most of the time this problem can be solved with a few simple steps.



 

Basically the error means that Windows XP is having trouble booting from Drive C. Following the steps below, you should be able to troubleshoot this problem and get your computer back and running.









Causes of Unmountable Boot Volume


 

Many times this error occurs when I have swapped a hard drive and used the wrong IDE cable to connect it. If your computer uses an Ultra Direct Memory Access (UDMA) hard disk controller, and you use a standard 40-wire connector cable to connect the UDMA drive, you may experience this error. Make sure you are using the correct IDE cable.

 

Also, if your BIOS settings are configured to force the faster UDMA modes, this error may occur. In this situation, restart your computer and enter the BIOS and load the "fail-safe" default settings and reboot.

If neither of these issues are the cause for the Unmountable Boot Volume, then the issue most likely is caused by a damaged BOOT.INI file in the root directory of the boot drive or file system corruption.

 

Follow the steps below to correct these file system issues:

 

1) Start your computer with your Windows XP CD-ROM, or with Windows XP boot disks

2) When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to Repair the installation using the Recovery Console

3) If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the Windows installation you want to access

4) Type the administrator password when you are prompted, if no administrator password is set then just press Enter

5) At the command prompt, type CHKDSK /R and then press Enter

6) Once CHKDSK has finished checking and repairing the hard drive, type EXIT and press Enter to restart your computer

 

If this procedure does not work, repeat it and use the fixboot command in step 5 instead of the chkdsk /r command. FIXBOOT writes a new partition boot sector to the system partition. The fixboot command is only available when you are using the Recovery Console.

it probably does matter. i always use "joe schmoe" or something to that affect.
