The Japan Rail Delrailment death toll is now at 73..

I guess the 2 contributing factors were that the driver had missed a stop, went back and proceeded to travel too fast to the next stop. JR has a policy/history of being one of the most punctual trainlines in the country.

The 2nd factor Ive been told is that somebody placed some rocks on the track as well. Lethal combinations..

 

Downright spooky when your around this kind of thing. Ive never seen so many fatalities in a train related accident.
