skullnbones
OK dvd's have "regions" that they are from or designed for etc. When I try play dvd's from different regions now i get a warning that it is my last shot to change the region and then it is done for good. Obviously there is a way to avoid this so that i can watch dvd's from all regions. I have been watching them from all regions but now it says i can only change it once more. I know it must be something easy i jsut dont know what. If i didnt explain that properly I'm sorry but you know what i mean. Please thankyou. potholder
you can rip the dvds to your computer with something like dvd decrypter and it will stirp the region encoding off of them, then reburn. or you can disable the limited region changes with certain keystrokes, if your dvd player supports it. what model is the dvd player? skullnbones
If you mean the actual dvd player not the program then i dunno. How can i check???
potholder
oh, I thought you were playing them on a standalone dvd player, with your television. if you're using the drive in your computer, you can run this, and it should tell you the model number of the drive: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
skullnbones
Looks like that thing only tells you info about whatever disc you put into your drive.
potholder
it also tells you the info on the drive and it's capabilities. do you have a dvd burner, or just a dvd-rom that reads only? you're going to have to get some hacked firmware that removes the region protection. or use dvd decrypter to rip the discs to the hard drive, then watch them from there. http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/
potholder
or just buy a new burner for $30: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827152058 then flash it with the new firmware: http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/page/3550/
skullnbones
Yeah i have a dvd burner. I thought about doing that but im thinking there must be a way to just change something on my comp so i can watch everything. I cant be bothered ripping everything that i want to watch. potholder
if it's a burner, then there is probably some hacked firmware out there that removes the region protection. find out the make and model of the drive, then do a search here: http://club.cdfreaks.com/forumdisplay.php?f=

potholder
yep, that's what you're looking for. from what I've found in a google search, there is no modified firmware for the drive :(
skullnbones
Ghey thanks a lot anyway. I'll hit up some other nerds i know. See how it pans out.
potholder
I think I just realized a solution for you. install AnyDVD by SlySoft and then try playing the dvd. that should strip all the region encoding off the disc, in real time, while it plays: http://www.mediafire.com/?3nyzkziz1za
skullnbones
ill try that.

skullnbones
OK i tried "Bag of Suck" (the enjoi skate vid) and "Mad Max beyond the thunderdome". Bagofsuck worked fine but Mad max got "playback of content from this region is not permitted" What the fuck i dont even understand why the manufacturer would want only one region to work. Doesnt make sense. All music cd's still work fine. Just some dvds. 110% Ghey.

potholder
What the fuck i dont even understand why the manufacturer would want only one region to work. Doesnt make sense. the reason everything is the way it is, money. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regional_lockout I'm almost 99% sure that without modified fimrware for the drive, you're going to forever be stuck with region 1. if anydvd wouldn't work with it, nothing will... best option, buy a new drive for the laptop that has hacked region free firmware available.
