the green party

Recommended Posts

anyone in it? i just downloaded some Ralph Nader speeches and it sounds pretty good from what i know. especially about corporations taking such a big part in both parties. but who knows who funds them.

good stuff. you might want to check it out as alternative to Dem. and Rep. parties.

the green party has great ideals. it would be great if more people would listen to nader and what he has to say

it is unfortunate that our modern american government is a two party system...

I am a member of the Greens mainly because of all the parties I believe in, it has the most realistic chance. It represents fair treatment of foreign and domestic workers, environmental responcibility, limiting corporate influence in just about everything, legalizing weed, and the list continues. It stands as a moderate between the current Democratic Party and a more Nature friendly Socialist ideal. Currently our system controls social issues to a degree, but frequently subscribes to the "hands off" policies on financial (read: corporate) matters. The greens tend to address all issues form a humanitarian/social perspective and in as much would advocate for more government control of big buisness. If Ralph Nader was president we would not be pumping out $300-$400 on the military and gasoline would not be the only source of energy available.

-If I am wrong on my points here, please speak up. It has been a while since I have looked into this, I think I gave up on life sometime last year

Secondly, the real problem with the American Government stucture is not the almost forced 2 party system, but the lack of a Parliament. A parliament assigns seats by percentages voted for, with other requirement going into who is decided as pime minister. Smaller parties are given a voice in an official descision making capacity.

No, they don't want to "legalize" marijuana. Marijuana is not fully legal anywhere, it has its restrictions. Nader wants to make it so you can posess a certain amount of marijuana. You can be high in public but can oly have so much THC flowing through your bloodstream at that moment. It's like you can't have more than 0.08 percent alcohol in your bloodstream while driving type deal. I hear a lot of younger kids saying "hell yea vote for that guy he's gonna make herb legal! 420!" but that's just one of the many good views they have. They want to made hemp legal to grow too, because face it...shits THE most efficient plant. I mean, it would seize the cutting down of the earths forests. You can grow a field of hemp for 6 months and get as much paper as you would get from a fucking forest. Shit, you can make damn near everything you need from hemp. Sorry if i just rambled on about hemp/marijuana. If this is a problem with the mods because its about marijuana then feel free to edit this post.

nader 2004, he's just straight gangsta!

I'd vote green party, but not for Nader.

I used to believe that the democrats and republicans were very different, after all they have very different ideals, and look out for the rights of two different groups of people: the democrats supposedly look out for the people. the republicans look out for themselves. But now I can the see the line between the two becoming extremeley blurred. Especially at a higher level of government. I trust my own rep. Democrat Barbara Lee, but I don't trust my senators, Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. And look at these democrat mayors in this area - what a bunch of slimeballs!

Now that the Democrats so readily support war with Iraq, and show blind support to Isreal I've decided I no longer want to vote democrat. But I'd only vote green if the candidate was right for me. And I don't trust Nader as far as I can throw him. He is just another politician.

Democrats say they want more taxes for education and health care, yet never act on it, rather they wimp around playing the victim all the time. Republicans say they need to cut these programs and give the rich their tax breaks - and oh they'll act on it if given the chance! The green party says alot of stuff too, most of which I completely agree with too. I'd like them to at least become a bit more substantiated so that we can one day see if they will live up to their word.

We need more diversity in our 'party' system. This republicrat thing is just not working.

the president does not make laws or have the power to make a drug legal. You would need to elect at least 51 green party senators and at least 160 congressmen. Then you would to have 5 of 9 supreme court justices retire and be able to appoint 5 people who agree with your views. Then you would hope that there would not be public outcry or a refuesal of service by say the police and fire unions.

Face the truth you volvo with a NADER/LaDUKE sticker driver. He's not going to get elected, EVER. Do things locally it will help more, end of story, you lose.
