i've been growing peppers for over a decade. mostly jalapenos, cayenne and a few other hot ones. i mostly eat them fresh but i also pickle them and use the vinegar in bbq sauce. i grilled up a half dozen whole jalapenos the other night at a bbq. when you're cooking that many it's like playing russian roulette and one of them is gonna blow your head off. it wasn't me this time. i've grilled poppers wrapped in bacon, it's a bit of a hassle but well worth it.
