if one was to subscribe to the idea of karma (or something along that line), wouldnt every act of kindness from that point become a selfish one, geared towards their own preservation? even if the person did care about the general well being of things, including others, the returning yield from said acts of kindness would still include them, so there really is no such thing as a selfless act, is there? what if youre about to die of dehydration & you give the last sip of water to the other person before you expire - technically, even thats not completely selfless? idk
