  1. good idea I need to make a back drop for photos. I built a track section for pictures but thats it if you paint (weather) those tracks, it will look better in photos, just sayin' Bro
  2. ohhhkae , David_Addington, dudes, these are great ok, I like your style of scale realism D_A, weathering = nice. thanks for sharing your technique
  3. I haven't been around here since before turkey day and it was a good one. This year it was at my house good time recovered all week cool, I'll certainly post pictures of that TPIX project here and on GWRXR when I start it EAD, puttin work into this layout. Nice, man I like the bridge detailing

  5. Re: MODEL TRAINS 90' ers right on, those are the shots I'm looking for
  6. lol . ...well that's just how I would do it based on what I already have in stock can you post an image here or in GWRXR, showing the roof and ends detail of this car and what are the height and width dimensions of one of the doors also, the height of this car might be able to build off of this one
  7. haha ok cool. I probably won't get to this project until Dec or Jan though... and great idea collecting roof shots, good resource this is looking good, and how much wood could a wood chuck chuck? :)
  8. ok with all that. I resized Zed's image of the TPIX to HO scale based on the trucks and wheels notice the door is the correct size in width and height the body height is correct too. The roof and end detail looks different than the prototype though, as well as the carved out swoop shape at each end where the end stirrups are mounted looks like an old Athearn mech reefer body. shave and sand all the ribs off then extend length with plastic material (probably styrene) on each side of the door, outside of the slide rail detail all this is easier written than done for sure, but I think is doable currently trying to finish up a scratch build military model in 1/35 so I'm not putting this one on the bench just yet here are a couple pictures of the Carrier frig units I scored on sale at the LHS
  9. that SP Hy-Cu CushCar roof is the accurate HO model roof detail the BLMA MODELS kit has yet to arrive at my LHS so I'm thinking of making my own I've recently purchased a couple Carrier Transicold reefer control units for this (that I'm tardy with those pics I promised at GWRXR) thanks for the image, Load Limit
  10. got a roof shot of this car? Zed_Eastwood and I were discussing this car body in regards to kitmashing into a modern CRYX reefer
  11. today she is to be released from house arrest this has happened before we'll see
  12. nice contribution of a variety of scale genre that Gundam arm diorama with a figure is by MZ3 I saw the build log for it. The figure was modified and little aerosol cans were made in 1/35 scale

  17. true, that's a great site for weathering trains. I just can't pay for it frsh262, that's looking better and better photography too edit: Holy Crap! they opened the forums back up to public
  18. Yes, ZED, those covered hoppers look totally real !
  19. EDIT: weird, I couldn't see all the previous reply posts before I made this reply post ... good advise I agree that it's too heavy when you wipe it off use a damp cotton rag or paper towel, and remove slowly this will leave some of the color in the crevasses and nooks of the car's molded in details this is called a wash and is applied extremely thinned, almost 10 to 1, reducer to pigment the best washes are achieved with oil color or enamels, but if all you have is water color or acrylic, then thin with alcohol + a drop or two of liquid dish soap the dish soap helps with the flow It looks like the original color was yellow so this wash should be a brown to dark gray spectrum also cut out a piece of masking tape to cover the LUBE / BUILT DATE placard, the little black box, so you won't have to buy/find decals for it later hope this helps and please post photos of progress, I'm interested in seeing your work
  20. That one is probably factory die cast by Jada or Maisto or something. I'm not a big fan of already built and painted die cast stuff unless I score it at a garage sale or thrift store for cheaps. Then I can customize it and paint it the way I want. Which version are you going to build the '53 Bel? Be crazy lookin to put the 'stock' wheels and hub caps on the 'low' chassis rollin under the 'custom' front scoop, grille, and body
  21. cool, just easin back into it then. Revell is a good and affordable kit to restart back into it
