Abracadabra
music videos used to be awesome. they used to compliment the music. they used to be a joy to watch. you used to look forward to seeing what video your favorite band was going to put out next. not anymore. music videos are bland, boring, and for the most part not worth watching. you turn on mtv and what do you see? song after song after song of one of (or all) three things: 1. a fashion show 2. a car/jewellery/possesion show 3. softcore porn or at least that's all that finds it's way to the mainstream surface. you may catch the occasion hum dinger at 3 in the morning, but you most definately won't see it at prime time. i'm not going to watch the mtv/vh1 etc channels day and night to try and catch something awesome, so now is the time to share amongst your 12oz peers. please post up any awesome videos, old or new, classic or forgotten, for everyone to enjoy. there are still some great music artists and video directors out there, so let's give em a little shine. *note - please refrain from posting the actual videos in the thread, but post links instead. also try to include some insight into what you like about the video, or a fond memory you have of the video if you can. thanks here's a few that i have enjoyed over the years: bjork has some amazing videos bachelorette (also a fantastic song. gives me chills) it's all so quiet weezer - buddy holly peter gabriel - sledgehammer a-ha - take on me michael jackson - thriller outkast - B.O.B. great use of color, and conveys the hyperactivity of the song really well. the pharcyde - drop ...mindbending jack johnson - sitting, waiting, wishing more reverse fun beastie boys - sabotage yet another spike jonze masterpiece aphex twin come to daddy windowlicker easily two of the best music videos ever made prodigy - smack my bitch up suprise ending there are so many good ones that i just can't think of right now, so i hope other people remember them. at any rate, i hope everyone joins in cos i know there's a zillion rad videos out there that i haven't seen. Guest imported_El Mamerro
I've decided that this is the most perfect music video ever made: Michel Gondry (directed a whole bunch of Björks videos) is a fucking genius. It pisses me off that he came up with something so simple and perfect.
