The Meeting Of Styles Copenhagen/Malmö has nothing to do with politics nor religion. It´s for the purpose of freedom to write and selfexpression. All artists and the MOScrew do this idealistically. The meeting is drug free and there will be no sale of alcohol. Its open from 12-20 all three days and free for everybody to attend. There is no entrance fees. Unfortunetly the wallspace for the meeting is limited and to avoid masterpieces being gone over immediately it will not be possible to paint unless you have been told so by the MOScrew beforehand. But bring your sketchbooks, skateboards or dancing shoes and take part in the different events. It is up to you, the participant to have a nice and positive experience at the meeting. Please behave peacefully and take good care of yourself and others. The idea of the meeting is to create a positive and peacefull atmosphere with people from the Scandinavian countries and the rest of the world. Today it is a common vision for a future Europe to unite and one way is the meeting of subcultures such as graffiti, bboying, djing and skateboarding. As Copenhagen and Malmo gets together for this occasion and share the responsibility for a great meeting, the aim is to make more projects like this between the cities. To work for integration and active meetings. A project of this kind has never been done in Scandinavia before and should be seen as an initiativ to show the positive, serious and constructive sides of a subculture that often gets blamed and put down. A contradiction towards the destructive smear campaigns that the Zero-tolerance-activists and politicians uses against this contemporary way of expression. The meeting would like to inspire and encourage initiative in the subculture throughout Scandinavia, to actively make projects with graffiti and graffitiartists, legal walls, graffiticourses, exhibitions and so on. The sky’s the limit! Welcome to Meeting of Styles 2002 Ruskig/ Pärra Andreasson & lars Pedersen MOScrew All contact to the organisation and theMOScrew: mos2002dkse@hotmail.com Words from the mother organisation WallStreetMeeting Goes Europe and brings you: “International Meeting Of Styles - The New Chapter” Graffiti-Hip-Hop-Events All Around Europe Five years of “WallStreetMeetings” with more than 25.000 visitors from all over Germany, Europe and the rest of the world have shown the high potential of the international Hip-Hop-Scene. Throughout all countries people are saying the Meeting has been one of the best events ever happened. Its uncommercial and authentical style, but also because of its message (space for expression) hundreds of artists have left their signs of skill. Money controls the world. For some it´s just about markets, profits and power. To us it´s about culture or commerce. They don´t recognize that we are the future of society. They ignore that life is not only about working and consuming, but about expressing yourself, being creative and acting constructive. Either they esteem the worth of youth for society or they don´t. Words are just images, the action shows the real intention! Because of the reputation of The “International WallStreetMeeting” and the enormous feedback from the scene, the idea was born to spread the message all over Europe. As the “WallStreetMeeting” is related to Schlachthof-area, we decided to bring you the “International Meeting Of Styles”, several jams which are in the tradition and spirit of the Wallstreetmeeting and almost the same style. “Recognize the real and beware of fake images! Support the Campaign for the Schlachthof-Area!” All events are free of entrance-fees…. Mr Fukshitup
Is there gonna be a meeting of styles? I have heard a nasty rumour from folks loosely affiliated with the Meeting of Styles. Apparently there is a big political convention with people from the EEC (EU) in Copenhagen that same week. Since the authorities are worried that an event such as M.O.S. might make the city look bad in front of important visitors, they are trying to revoke the permit for those walls intended for the jam. The people who told me this, are people supposed to paint in Cph, who have heard it from the swedish guy who arranges the friday in Malmoe. I really hope this is just rumours, I was really looking forward to this
Mr Fukshitup
it was on swedish radio today, it all seems to depend on the contract with the owner of the walls. It might not be legal to break the contract, but they weren´t sure...

Guest imported_Europe
The deal is that we have a 100% legal jam and the mayor and anti-graff-campaigners are doing all they can to shut us down anyway. Mudslinging us in the media, trying to pressure people into boycutting us, etc. The situation changes by the minute and I dont know what the outcome will be, all I know is that something will happen on that weekend and they will not get away with the culture-censorship-bullshit! Fight the power and rock on, Peace

upright merk
yea.. i see what you mean but seeing that you cant buy spray paint in chicago and there are scattered permission walls, what would the chance of it happening in those conditions. there are mural teams that are sponsered by rustoleum and they can use spray paint.. what would an even that just encompasses large murals differ? Abracadabra
you could just leave the word 'graffiti' out of all your applications and documentations. make sure to wear a shirt and tie whenever speaking to anybody in person. always helps
Guest imported_Europe
Update from the organizers MEETING OF STYLES Malmö/Copenhagen 2002 Update 02-07-02 Big changes. The original facts about Meeting of Styles Copenhagen/Malmø has changed. Now the Meeting of Styles festival looks like this: Friday 05-07-2002 in Malmö from 14.00 to 20.00, entrance: FREE! New location: ASKANIA Blidögatan 3 Industrihamnen. Take the bus from the Central Station or walk about 20 minutes. The Nordic Graffiti Battle Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland. The event will be filmed and also exhibited on internet. Sponsored and powered by Nordisk Kulturfond and High Lights. Please act responsible and make events like this possible, behave nicely and do not bomb the area or Malmø city. Saturday 06-07-2002 in Copenhagen 12.00 Sydhavnen. Entrance: FREE! At the original location, Enghave Brygge, a meeting with invited politicians, writers, media, police etc. The original DJ event, breakdance event, skateboard event and graffiti event is all officially cancelled, but this is a chance to show up and show your support of legal graffiti-art and hiphop and voice your opinion. The area functions as the biggest outdoor gallery in Denmark and shows over 2000 square meters of legal artistic graffiti. This is the art that Meeting of Styles is about, not vandalism. Everybody is welcome. Please act responsible and make events like this possible, behave nicely and do not bomb the area or Copenhagen city. Sunday 07-07-2002 All events are cancelled. The Meeting of Styles has met strong opposition from forces within Copenhagen City Council, Copenhagen Police, the transit company DSB and anti-graffiti people. Even if they don’t know who we are and what we are doing. They can´t see the difference between a smashed window and a graffitipainting and acts from that point of view. Meeting of Styles will always be a peaceful, positive event and it takes place all over Europe, Copenhagen is the only city where it has faced opposition. Meeting of Styles featured in its original form World Champion DJ’s, the winners of Scandinavian Battle of the Year 2002 in breakdance, some of the worlds best skateboarders and some of the worlds best and most artistic graffiti artist, including artists from Kunstakademiet and internationally recognized professional artists. These people and their artforms are not welcomed by the opposition mentioned above in the city of Copenhagen, but welcomed and admired everywhere else in the world. We as organizers have a long list of successful legal projects like this, that we have accomplished without any problems, both in Sweden and in Denmark. The latest is the Roskilde Festival last week where 4 different graffitievents were held with big success and there were no problems of any kind. The Meeting of Styles organization itself has held big positive events in Wiesbaden, Germany for the last five years too. We have a fully legal contract with the holders of the area but they will not take the responsibility for that and want us to close MOS. Another important fact is that Copenhagen has an EU summit the same week and are very afraid that something would disturb the order. We are working really hard to make a nice graffitievent, and ask you to please work with us. Please don’t make things worse by acting ill during this event because that will give the intolerant people more fuel and make their untrue statements about legal events like Meeting of Styles come to life. The authorities have in their paranoid state of mind made a big increase of security, guards and police all over Copenhagen this weekend, just because of Meeting of Styles. But the Meeting of Styles has always and will always be a peaceful and positive meeting. Act seriously and nice, and work hard and actively for a strong and active legal graffitiscene. Make legal activities like walls, exhibitions and projects. Stay true. Pärra Andreasson/Ruskig, Lars Pedersen
