Seffiks Posted February 4, 2007 Share Posted February 4, 2007 unplug the ex hd from the computer restart the computer get the cd that came with the external drive put it in the drive (do not plug the drive in) plug the drive be sure its plugged in and turned on you will get a prompt saying it found new hardware (it will prolly say it could not be installed correctly) from this point click on the prompt to install the driver in the driver a screen will pop up like in the automatic install. Select "install for a list or specific location" this time and click next. there should be a box saying install from disk press browse and go into the cd/ driver selection select the xp folder and press ok and let it finish running yer driver should become installed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Plus he has the Windows Genuine thing. So I think a really good reformat and reinstall should fix his missing driver problem.
