no, it's abnormal. sounds like you're having a problem identical to one of mine. it turned out to be codecs. i had to uninstall all of my video codecs and go with what i needed.

starting point:

* uninstall all video codecs.

* http://free-codecs.com/

* ffdshow http://free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm

* koepi's xvid codec http://free-codecs.com/Koepi_XviD_download.htm

* divx free http://free-codecs.com/DivX_Free_download.htm (you don't need this, but you might)

* real alternative http://free-codecs.com/Real_Alternative_download.htm

* quicktime alternative http://free-codecs.com/QuickTime_Alternative_download.htm

i went out and bought some dvd+r Double Layer disc, so i KNOW i have enough room on the disc, but i still keep getting the message "exceding the disc media size. continue?"

. one thing you could do is have that just make a .vob (superdvd creator)

and then use dvdshrink http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd_shrink.cfm

to shrink and burn this particular movie.

"SecurityFocus has an interesting article about a paper published on the possibility of hiding a rootkit in different PCI cards and having the rootkit survive a reboot or cleansing of the hard disk. It seems though that the author of the article doesn't think this would be abused frequently. From the article and paper: '(Because) enough people do not regularly apply security patches to Windows and do not run anti-virus software, there is little immediate need for malware authors to turn to these techniques as a means of deeper compromise.'"

Hey TechGods-

my cousin is over today with a pc from work.....he was showing me a presentation when this little microsot anti-vir message popped up saying:

expl_sslice.gen

"it blocked it but could not remove"

google oner had my back- so its apparently a trojan of some sort, but the sites i visited did not offer a solution!!!

he says he doesnt want to DL anything as it is a work pc- but i dont think he understands the importance of a good anti-virus program!

SO, how can i get rid of "expl_sslice.gen" and should i / which anti-vir program should i install for him???

thanks in advance

Users running Windows XP must disable System Restore to allow full scanning of infected computers.

Users running other Windows versions can proceed with the succeeding solution set(s).

Applying Patch

This malware exploits known vulnerability in Windows. Download and install the fix patch supplied by Microsoft. Refrain from using this product until the appropriate patch has been installed.

download Avast! antivirus or AVG
