hey man, first i'd like to say i think you've come along way from your first skeches when you first started posting.

As for these ones, I can see where you're going with them, they have thier pros and cons. don't try to add extra things like the lines through the middle of the letters just yet. Yeah sure, that's part of your style and all, but don't fool yourself into thinking it makes your actual letters any better. Keep playing with letter form and keep it simple, and remember simple doesn't necessarily mean generic - keep pushing those different forms, just don't put any extra stuff in till you are really impressed with the letters - then you can start adding things that will actually enhance those good letter forms.

It's really easy to trick yourself into adding a few extra things and thinking your letter(s) is/are better for it. Don't kid yourself.

keep doing your thing.

I mean like with that last E you posted that was on its own. Down the bottom you have a straight line and two curved ones above it, then one on the back (running parallel to the back bar) that cuts the bottom bar off. Sure it doesn't have arrows and shit going everywhere, but you are still adding things that distract you from the letter form.

I'm not straight dissing you, I think you've made heaps of progress.

Someone said it very well recently, about abstracture in all forms of art.

Abstract art comes from an understanding of the original form of a subject. In more related terms, the better abstract styles of graff (like Joker's for example) are developed from a thorough understanding of letter form in the first place. Sorry to use him as a scapegoat as is done so often, but Joker has an excellent knowledge of letter forms and his abstract pieces are derived from that. It's not like he started graff trying to rock those crazy flipped-out inverted letters that he does now, it all started with style and letter form.

First master something, then abstract it. I know you might think it's all part of your style and everything, but you can keep the ideas of letters and styles that you have and keep applying them while you develop your real letter form.

anyway, kudos to you for doing your thing.
