Looking at the crime stats for 2017 published by the fbi. https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2017/crime-in-the-u.s.-2017/tables/table-43

Over 5% of black people were arrested that year while under 2% of white people including white hispanics people in the same year. This is probably due to saturation patrols, but my gut feeling is this has to do at least in part with environmental factors. HUD housing wasn’t de-leaded until 1999 and enforcement was slow af. It’s proven that prolonged exposure to lead has a permanent degeneration of grey matter in the brain. Grey matter decrease in the hippocampus has been found to be actively involved in stress regulation. Don’t mean to derail the protest commentary, felt this was the most relevant place to post these ideas even tho I’m not sure of the overall context.

I'd make an uninformed bet that socio-economic status is the greatest correlating factor with arrests/incarceration.

  2. I guess it's not so much that I feel sorry for them but what this kind of behaviour means, that makes me anxious. Mob mentality is a dangerous thing and will often turn on those who don't deserve its attention.

She is clearly a patronising cunt. That passive aggressive nature, talking to that guy like he's a kid. She's honestly lucky she didn't get the contents of the can emptied in her face.

  3. I can't believe I'm saying this but I actually feel uncomfortable about them losing their careers and having their lives cancelled like that. I mean, yes, they are morons but the consequences of, what were pretty minor transgressions seem massively out of proportion.

It's like a mob mentality has polarised the situation so much that any company is petrified to be associated with anyone who is mobbed online by the social justice warriors. Probably would have been enough just to have them publicly shamed and made an example of. Pulling the rug out from under their lives seems extreme.

  4. Jesus christ, how many rounds do they pump into this homeless guy who was just sleeping in a bus stop.

I mean, I understand that when your society is so awash with guns the cops militarise to retain the balance of power on the street and then become edgy at any possibility they might get shot themselves. But who could seriously see this guy as a threat?

  5. Cusack hates BOD? Strange movie to hate on. But then again, I read that Cusack is one of these Hollywood anti-vaxxer-esque idiots.

The other Cusack film I got bashed with was Sure Thing. The other flicks the sis always played were Breakfast Club, Grease, Xanadu, Flashdance and a few others that will come to mind.

@Drue_DownReckon I would have watched better off dead about eleventy billion times. Sister had a thing for Cusack and had that on repeat for about a year in our house. Worse movies about to watch over and over again.

You would have a much harder time ending up in that kind of iconic photo here in a larger city. Most people here don't mind the protesters, and there's a lot more of them. It's probably the opportunity to be in a shot like that drawing protesters to your area tbh. A much taller man unhinged leaning into a woman's face like that with fists clenched, all that rage, a woman's eyes calm eyes, and firm posture engaging in non violent resistance. Profile pic flex of a lifetime, she's probably smiling under that.

Don't mean to diminish her but that confident defiance is another level of sexiness.

    Fucking raw hot.

Yeah, I can buy that as a reason people would travel to protest, as opposed to riot or loot.

    sinclair broadcast speech

I get really perplexed why the Sinclair speech gathers so much attention. I understand that it broke the broadcasting laws, but I don't understand why people think it's such a big deal.

Keen to hear people's perspectives as I feel like I'm missing something here.

Infection found in one of the Black lives matter protestors in Melbourne.

the reckon he wouldn't have contracted it there but he was in fectious while he was there.

     and here we go again

I'm quietly confident that this won't see another peak of community transmission, especially if that person was masked up.

    Pretty clear patterns, huh?
