  5. An 11-year-old UK boy who tortured two young boys with his brother in a wooded ravine said he carried out the horrific assault because he was "bored" and had "nought else to do", a court has heard. The two victims, then aged 11 and nine, were pelted with bricks, stabbed, strangled and burned with lit cigarettes during the savage attack in Yorkshire last year. One of the accused brothers, whose names cannot be released for legal reasons, allegedly told police the only reason he ended the 90-minute assault was because his "arms were aching", Sheffield Crown Court heard. The brothers, aged 11 and 10 at the time of the attack, were reportedly asked by police how close, on a scale of one to 10, they thought they came to killing their victims. The 11-year-old said perhaps eight or nine, the Daily Mail reports. Gruesome details of the assault, which happened last April, emerged at the outset of a hearing to sentence the brothers. At a court hearing in September, the two admitted subjecting their victims to a series of "horrendous" attacks on the outskirts of Edlington village. The brothers were arrested shortly after the nine-year-old victim was found wandering through Edlington covered in blood. His 11-year-old friend was later found lying face down by the edge of a stream with serious head injuries and covered in dirt and blood. Both brothers are to be sentenced on a charge of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, with the judge expected to pass sentence on Friday. Addressing the court, the prosecution described in harrowing detail how the two victims were punched, kicked, pelted with bricks, forced to eat nettles and dirt and to perform sex acts on each other. Among the evidence presented on was a series of blood-stained sticks branches and stones, one of which weighed 12 kg. The court heard how one of the attackers cut open the younger victim's arm with a sharp stick while the other forced a lit cigarette in the wound. At one point, the older victim had a large part of a broken sink thrown at his head as he was lying on the ground. The duo then forced their victims to strip and told to perform a sex act on each other. When the brothers believed someone was nearing the site of the attack, they threw a plastic sheet over their victims, which was then set alight. They also tried to strangle the pair with a clothes line and a metal ring. Shards of broken glass were scratched across their throats, and their attackers repeatedly threatened to kill them and their families. In another twist, the brothers also admitted causing actual bodily harm to another 11-year-old a week before the April attack. As details of the attack came out, the two brothers sat at the back of the courtroom between care workers, watched from the public gallery by relatives of the two young victims. During the assault, the victims asked their abusers why they were hurting them and were told it was because they had caused the brothers' grandmother to have a heart attack and die, the prosecution said. The case sparked horror across the country, and evoked comparisons with the 1993 murder of two-year-old James Bulger by two boys who were aged 10 at the time. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/1002748/uk-boy-tortured-kids-because-he-was-bored How do kids like this exist?
