  1. ... and i'm officially riveted.
  2. come on, statues? when you graduate to humping national monuments and public officials, then you can post photos.
  3. underwear are always magic until they're off. black magic.
  4. i'm wondering what he's going to do with that information.
  5. Jacques Tati Luis Bunuel Lars Von Trier +Jorgen Leth David Lynch
  6. Mario Bava i'm pretty sure this guy would only shoot Technicolor. and that's fucking funny. Andrei Tarkovsky Alejandro Jodorowsky Werner Herzog
  7. Akira Kurosawa basically anything he did... Rashomon has been mentioned, and that shit is still fresh. Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Ran, Seven Samurai... it's seriously all very good. Rainer Werner Fassbinder a of people don't like Fassbinder... obviously, these people are idiots. but he did make some trash. Robert Bresson Henri-Georges Clouzot this was fucking awesome. Federico Fellini
  8. Wim Wenders Kar Wai Wong (his stuff is always fresh, even if the cover art says otherwise) Jean-Luc Godard
  9. yeah, i asked that earlier. the photographer did two movies on his own, as well... Chronons and Baraka.
  10. i could go on for a while with this, if you really want me to.
  11. what's that first one all about? i'd buy it for the packaging alone.
  12. i like all of those, but i really like the first one.
  13. all four of those are awesome, good looking on the Seijun Suzuki and Melville. Le Cercle Rouge, too. a French guy who adopts Herman Melville's name and has a preoccupation with Buddhism... that's what's up.
  14. what the fuck? what's he like in a non-television special setting? was he swallowing twenties and then pulling them out of panties? ...all soft-spoken and then he gives out the digits. and then he tears them up and they burst into flames, then he finds them behind her ear and they turn into tickets to Die Fledermaus and a bottle of champaigne comes crashing through the windshield and your boy flips the Navigator and it explodes and David Blaine laughs while he levitates back to his throne in the Hamptons. yeah, David Blaine wins.
  15. I seriously watch this like once a week. I've even made alternate soundtracks to listen to while watching it (Phillip Glass gets annoying after a while). Quoted post [/b] have you seen anything else from that qatsi series? or those films that Ron Fricke did?
  16. i understand completely, and i'm certainly missing the background needed to appreciate this movie... but it was an era in film-making, something that was shocking and bizarre and quasi-influential, but the spirit is definitely gone and Rob Zombie has added NOTHING to the genre. it's his interpretation of that movement, it's his idea of what these guys were doing, and it fucking sucks. it was something wholesome and genuine that Rob Zombie's forebearers were doing, because they were just doing it. but now it's been filtered through Rob Zombie's conciousness and simplified and it almost amounts to mockery. another thing that seriously bothered me was that every character was some incarnation of Rob Zombie, they all had his 'voice.' that shit was straight up annoying. i think your last paragraph is dead on, fermentor.
  17. Orson Welles and Fellini are the dudes, for real.
  18. word, if there were any protagonists at all, they had to be the killers... but the confusion is due to Rob Zombie being a clueless bastard. he has no regard for coherence. all that freezing and slow-mo shit. the soundtrack narrative. the focal lengths, the ultra close ups. get the fuck out. fuck all that. if it weren't shot on 16mm, there would be absolutely nothing worth mentioning in its defense. the ending was atrocious, for real. i know that shit seemed glorious to the white trash i was surrounded by, but setting a police-barricade showdown to the entire length of Free Bird, guns blazing in an American-made convertible... that's some pretentious, self-indulgent shit. sit down, Rob Zombie. you're not a fucking writer or director. *edit: that was harsh
  19. of course there's a difference, and also a very sad pathology.
