thanks for giving in the input but i know it's not that. to fix the problem i have to detach the lens from the body and reattach it then it focuses fine. just wanted to see if i wasn't the only one with a d60 that did this.

i'll be sure to mess around with the white balance now. do you ever have a problem with the lens autofocusing and instead just toggles up and down?
