alright sorry man. i was just sayin as i had a similar problem recently. if you havent yet try your usb drive on a diff comp as it might be stuffed

check this 1. Click Start, click Run, type Devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. 2. In Device Manager, expand Universal Serial Bus controllers. If the USB hub driver is not working correctly, a yellow circle that contains an exclamation mark appears on the device name.

no no. i dont mean a driver for the thing. i mean drivers for the USB hub, like the usb plugs in your comp. they also have drivers. and i think they may not be installed properly. try connecting another usb device to see if it works.

i think that means that the driver files (.exe or whatever) could be fucked. so try downloading or finding new drivers

its possible that after reinstalling windows that the drivers for the USB hub/system haven't been installed properly.
