  1. TRON: The photo was a little blurry but what I saw was pretty damn nice.
  2. Man... rubeek... I always dig your shit but wish you'd post some color to go with it. As bangin as your letters are, I bet they blaze with fills.
  3. Hey bouncing souls... when are we going to see some filled, finished pieces from you?
  4. bugs... paint skills are actually pretty impressive. Nice and clean letters. But the letters themselves... need work. But big up for keeping it simple.
  5. rubeek... needs color but that's hot.
  6. bouncing souls... I like that, actually. Throw a halo around it with the white and that's pretty damn good for a toy.
  7. stins... big up for coming with simple letters. You guys should all take note and pay attention to how that cat composed his letters. Your 3D is way off, though. 3D needs to make sense like the letters are carved blocks of wood. Pick one vanishing point and only one. If you don't quite get 3D yet, DON'T DO 3D! Do a drop shadow or nothing at all other than the letters.
  8. prescription rx - I see a lot of potential in what you could be doing from that last sketch. Take the advice from the post I made above this one and practice one set. Eventually, you'll be able to put those composition skills to good use.
  9. Here's some advice, se-rhythm. PICK ONE NAME. See, this is a common mistake in graffiti. Cats think every piece is different letters. It's not. Each piece is some variation of the same letters. True some writers have more than one set but you start simple, draw the same letters EXACTLY THE SAME OVER AND OVER and as you master those letters, you begin to develop skill with connections, fills, flow, extensions... all that good shit. But if you constantly draw different shit each time you are not really practicing. You have to MASTER those damn letters the same every time until you hate them. I keep saying this over and over. I hope some of you mother fuckers are listening because doing this really will make you better.
  10. Ha... just doing my thang... Who were you on Peegee so I can remember you?
  11. prescriptrx - looks better... keep working on that simply stylee and you'll progress... damn duse looks hot like always. I'm really thinking your shit is not toy, man. It's simple but you have mastered that shit. NOT toy.
  12. mightymim... nice shit! Always dig it when cats devote a little time to making their blackbook stand out.
  13. I don't know about quitting graffiti pre-rx but you need to stop trying to draw like that and stick to simples. I give you credit for having your 3D better than 95% of the toys here but you are definately someone who has overstepped his skill level. Take it down to straight line simples and try again.
  14. Speaking of size... enigmatic! Damn! SMALLER, please!
  15. u get meh... I'm not trying to be a dick but you need to take your sketches to the toy section. You'll get help there. And you'll be better off for it.
  16. Well, the original point was something very specific but somehow it evolved into a general discussion about markers but I feel you.
  17. Also: copics... can't find them shits anywhere in town. Gonna have to order them bastards off the internet.
  18. Heh... I use Sharpies and Prismas plus the Bic permanent marker set has gotten nice and blends well with the Sharpies. I use Elmer's paint markers and tons of little shits here and there like Zig's for hilights and metallics. Just to answer the question, I use paint markers on the cover of my blackbook, to go over shit like halos over complex backgrounds, drawing on shit I pasted into my blackbook and lots of shit like that.
  19. SMUF! That shit was off the ringer. Shamee - your 3D is going about fifteen different directions and doesn't make a damn bit of sense. Pick a vanishing point, son. Tron... love to comment on your shit but I can barely see it. Camera phone?
  20. Just back from a week's vacation... had to put these up here... I think my James Brown sketch sucks but I'm pretty happy with everything else: http://www.shapelessmass.com/visuals/blackbook/3d_blue_james_brown.jpg http://www.shapelessmass.com/visuals/blackbook/lord_of_the_fly.jpg http://www.shapelessmass.com/visuals/blackbook/freights_n_postal_sticker.jpg http://www.shapelessmass.com/visuals/blackbook/orange_and_purple_burner.jpg
  21. GZ - you should not be painting right now. Fill up an entire sketchbook cover to cover before you even start thinking about paint. SERIOUSLY. Note: EVERYFUCKINGBODY (except Weasel) who posted pics on this page needs to hit the books and focus on simple straightlines. Nothing more. No connections, arrows, etc. No round letters. No wild anything. You have to crawl before you can fucking walk before you can fucking run marathons. Here's an example of how simple letters look. BITE THIS STYLE, PLEASE: http://www.shapelessmass.com/offsite/simple.jpg Here's another example I did for someone who wanted to write "REMIX" a long time ago: http://www.shapelessmass.com/offsite/remix.jpg Get the idea? See how the letters are all the same size (approximately) and the width is relatively constant too? See how the 3D makes sense in space? See how the letters are clean and have no connections. THAT is what you need to be doing, many of you. If you can't do these type of letters, QUIT NOW. YOU WILL NEVER GO ANY FURTHER. Master that. I made those on computer. You can do the same thing. Just type your name in Arial or Helvetica, make it bold and thick, then draw that over and over doing your 3D as a simple 45 degree angle. TRUST ME. Doing this will make you better.
  22. They do make white decos in both fat and thin sizes but like I said... problems with the sticking and rubbing off for me. However, I have neither of those problems with Zig white opaqing markers which come in a fine point size about the width of a mechanical pencil lead on up to big-ass chisel tips. I found mine at Michaels. I also use Elmers paint pens which come in two sizes and cover nicely without any rubbing off or sticking. Those are the two I highly recommend.
  23. Thanks for the help. You guys just saved me money. Course if they weren't in that big-ass package, I'd have racked them.
  24. I hate these threads just as much as the rest of you. I DID check and couldn't find an answer to this question and it's real specific. I already have a good assortment of markers I use and am happy with but if there's something better out there, I'm always willing to try it. Before I put down some money on an expensive ($15) set of paint pens, I just wondered something about it. I've used Decocolors and had problems with them sticking to the other pages in my book and rubbing off on the covers really easy. Anyone used Sharpie paint pens to know if they don't stick to the other pages? Simple question. Like I said, I searched and couldn't find an answer to this one so if the admins want to delete it, just post a link to the answer before you shut it down (if it has actually been posted before). Thanks.
