ok, some of yous mighta read my thread about my camera. Anyway I bought the a610 and found it has video capabilities including sound. So I made a few clips and used the editing software supplied to make a short little film. but damn the editing options sucked. I couldn't overaly audio clips or insert multiple clips etc etc... anyway my question is, does anyone know of any good video editing software I can find on something like piratesbay etc etc?

I just wanted to thank you guys casek and mainter for this thread...I never really used cpu's until grad school. Before that I handwrote papers, did research in libraries and only used computers to write papers in word... but over the last 3 years I've become a pretty good "amatuer" computer expert and this thread helps me alot, esp when I don't feel like trolling through google looking for the right answers to simple questions... I was starting to get sick of 12oz over the last 12 months, this brought me (and my evil sarcastic humor) back... now I look soooooo good for my clients when they introduce me to their IT folks and I know what I'm talking about (or at least the lingo). I'm still trying to figure out the world of server based database management though... *no gay

my current cpu is a desktop hp 4 years old, which I upgraded to 128 graphics card g-force, 640 ram 1.3 ghz...is that sucky? it runs allright but iI know I can't play the new battlfield on it...

so should I continue to wait to buy a laptop? btw whats the best specs for a laptop with someone willing to pay for something nice, but not too nice as too waste my $$$? I play games like battlefield and use some 3-d mapping software with big databases and maybe someday video if I ever get enough $$$ to buy a camcoder... like I heard 3.0 and +++ ghz is a waste and runs too hot and uses too much battery power best video cards and how fast ? 256mb? and whats most important memory? 2gb? I wanna build a custom and am trying to build a good one that deals with weight vs. power vs. overheating vs. battery life etc etc

Thanks for the tips. I was reading all the secuirty stuff above and just kinda needed it put into perspective. Anyway, talking about monitors, I just bought one today. Actually last night after I made my post here, my old viewsonic 19 crt that I had for 4 years conked out. after spending all last night troubleshooting I decided to buy a new one, which I had been planning to do for a few months now anyway. So I got a Samsung 960BF 19 flatscreen lcd monitor at best buy. my new monitor I guess its pretty cool, but I've spent all day trying to configure the color/contrast setting etc... Its seems a bit bright and the programs included to adjust the monitor keep freezing my computer... I haven't tried any gaming yet, but I'll let yous know, but I agree with what mainter wrote above, I'm not sure how good it looks looking at photos and using photoshop and using mapping software etc which I use professionally (ooooooops?)... also the text seems a little fuzzy or maybe its just my eyes... BTW the refresh rate is 4ms!!!! what do you guys think? good choice or no?

so perhaps someone can explain this. I have a comcast account. Do I have a definative url dedicated to me? Or is it some generic comcast one that a search would get stopped at the comcast company. Like for instance, if the man wanted to find out who made my 12oz post, would they be able to track me my specific computer here at home, or only as far as comcast? And then could comcast trace me to my account whne they assigned my url. And are web pages the same? Like a websites owner can be traced? sorry for the rambling

I'll just add that gold is not a good investment... back in the old days when currency was linked to gold, it was a stable, safe investment. But now its just another metal..And a plentiful one at that. Some of the metals used to make computers are a better investment. But Dawood, if you want a safe, secure investment, get US governement bonds. e-mail spam question: I use outlook and have a comcast account. Anyway lately I've been getting e-mails that are totally blank, blank from: field, blank to: field, blank subject and body. Because they are blank, but especially the "from" field, I can't block it or set up a filter rule, since it needs values in the "from" field. Thus I keep getting them and getting them.. Any advice? I tried googling and looking on outlook help, but found nothing...

mozilla firefox problem: I consider myself pretty good with computers, but can't seem to get around this one. Anyway alot of stuff like graphics, photos etc on webpages don't showup. Instead a quicktime logo shows up in its pace with a question mark over it. Well I figured I needed updated or additional plug-ins particulaly the quick time player. A friend reccommended flash player update etc etc.. Anyway I did all theses updates and still the same thing. Its aggravating because I've been having to keep switching to explorer to view alot of pages...I tried fucking around with some of the security settings too, but no luck... any suggestions?
