The funny thing with sneakers, which ultimately turned me off to them, is that they sre simply built with zero attention to longevity and quality in comparison to other mens' shoes. Wear a pair of sneakers for a few weeks and they will, irreparably, look and smell like shit, and there is nothing you can do to maintain them. I started buying higher-end mens' shoes a few years ago, leather shoes in the $200-$250 range, and while that *is* a lot of money for a pair of shoes, they all look perfect to this day. If I had had spent that same money on sneakers, I would have bought and worn out several pairs by now. And the truly nice thing about fine leather mens' shoes? Women will actually notice them and care.
Just two cents. I understand collecting for collecting's sake, of course... but sneakers to me seem ultimately unfulfilling.
