  1. hthey tracked down people who haven't ever talked - guys like sento and charlie. they found guys doing freights in the 1980s in forgotten towns like lowell ma. they dug up a freight flick by tracy 168 done in 1974. that's research.........
  2. Hey - I just had a chance to see the big new book, Freight Train Graffiti, and it's great. Roger Gastman and co. got interviews and flicks from friggin everyone, even people who I'd never seen interviewed before, like Sento and Charlie. Even a flick of a Tracy 168 freight that's over 30 years old. Wow stuff.
  3. thanks. i havent seen it yet but i have no reason to believe it was edited down... i think my copy will show up sometime next week or shortly after.
  4. Ah. Print Mag then, right? This is what I get, being in Boston. Periodicals are like 2 weeks behind NYC at the earliest.
  5. steve austin- was that something of mine that i just havent seen yet, by any chance?

    ICHABOD

My sister, who digs graff a ton, but isn't exactly about to care to figure out how to read 99% of the shit painted on freights, lives right near a nice active line in the middle of nowhere. She's like "I see those JE quick things, those The Solo Artist sketches, and Ich. I see Ich roll by every day, and I can tell it's him from five blocks away." That's freight fame, and Ich's doing it right.

    Shoes?

The funny thing with sneakers, which ultimately turned me off to them, is that they sre simply built with zero attention to longevity and quality in comparison to other mens' shoes. Wear a pair of sneakers for a few weeks and they will, irreparably, look and smell like shit, and there is nothing you can do to maintain them. I started buying higher-end mens' shoes a few years ago, leather shoes in the $200-$250 range, and while that *is* a lot of money for a pair of shoes, they all look perfect to this day. If I had had spent that same money on sneakers, I would have bought and worn out several pairs by now. And the truly nice thing about fine leather mens' shoes? Women will actually notice them and care. Just two cents. I understand collecting for collecting's sake, of course... but sneakers to me seem ultimately unfulfilling.

omigosh..... get well soon bali buddy..... ouch.
  9. It's intimidating, seeing all these together. There are really only a handful of writers about whom I can say "if you don't like _______, then you don't like graffiti." Bates is one of them.
