  1. i don't know about it being enough to "bring down the nba."

true, theres nothing wrong with crossing your fingers just in case, though.

man, im not sure what i hate more, baseball or basketball. maybe i should start a thread with a poll....

  2. id get a trap stamp and wear my underpants from back when i was 8 if it meant doing pretty much whatever the fuck i wanted to for the rest of my life. yeah its gay but id rather be gay and be able to retire whenever i want than be totally, 100% awesome and doing shit like typing on a message board to kill time at my 9 to 5.

    im just saying.

  3. It's amusing to sit in here and watch you guys rattle off your theories and dismissal of God as if the whole world is in agreement with you and the 90% or so (give or take a few) of the the world that beleives in God is easily pushed aside because what you are saying is the hip idea of the century. And while your ideas will continue to be born and die. Islam will continue as it has since the beginning of time.

Also, where did you get the idea that religion and science don't mix? Just because Christianity says that the world was created 5000 or so years ago doesn't mean that all religions teachings are not in line with what MUCH of what science says today. Of course, Islam is not going to line up with every fly by night theory that apears and dissapears like the clouds, but for sure, you won't find ONE undisputed scientifical FACT that islam opposes.

    And that's a challenge,Try me.

speaking for myself, i am in no way approaching this as if the world is in agreement with me. i know i am a minority, someone who the majority of america looks down upon with feelings ranging from pity and disdain to outright fear and hatred. that said, it doesnt mean my arguments arent valid. you talk as if myself and other are throwing around some flash in the pan idea about the world but if put your religion aside for a moment and actually take a look around you will see these ideas have been gaining real momentum over the past few centuries and are only getting stronger. i know you want to think it will fall out of fashion to be an atheist but im afraid it wont.

as for the one scientific fact that islam opposes? how about an all knowing god that takes an active role in the workings of our lives? if thats not a giant "fuck you" to everything science has worked to understand i really cant tell you what is.

  4. I agree with your first paragraph. Believing that one can understand the world simply by observing it's physical properties does take faith. But I do not believe that the approximate and ever changing nature of scientific theory takes faith in itself, certainly not in the way that believing in scripture or a supreme being takes faith.

crooked, i hate to do this but im feeling lazy and a little hungover so im just going to quote russells response to your rebutal.

  5. my thing is this:

Science does require the same faith as religions do.

that is absolutely, 100%, incorrect. i think anyone who appreciates science will acknowledge that it is flawed. the world we live in is far too complex to understand the first time around. this has been shown time and time again. now, with that said, the "faith" that many of us put in science is based on facts and proven (or at least very probable) laws of the universe. upon the release of darwins "origin of species" there was only a fraction of the evidence we have today to support his theory but those free thinkers who saw its validity did so because there was enough evidence to make evolution more probable than not. this is not, and most likely, never will be the case for religion. religion and god, at a minimum, require unquestioning faith, if not requiring the believer to consciously push fact and reason aside in order to keep their faith alive and thriving. i would challenge anyone to find any probability (based on our current understanding of the world) that exists within their religious belief. this is the glaring reality that has, and always will, separate religion and science.

to be perfectly blunt...faith, by your definition, is antiquated.

  6. that looks like some gay art project.

boogie verdict...it sucks balls. drawing like a child is great for kids who shop at thrift stores. for the rest of us it ranges between hard to take and awful. hang it up and go get a desk job. even rich people arent buying it.

  7. Re: Who's a vegan?

I understand how some people think that sharing about their lifestyle and all it's benefits to anyone who will listen seems like the thing to do.

    Educate people.

Show them the folly of their ways.

    Don't eat animal products.

    Don't do drugs.

    Don't drink.

    Don't drive a car.

    Don't litter.

    Don't beat children.

    But really, it's just bullshit.

People should live their own lives.

Even if poor little cute animals are being bred, born, raised and slaughtered in horrible living enviroments just for the sake of a sandwich.

i disagree. if you have an issue that is affecting other beings and you feel that you are right in your views towards it why not share your knowledge, argue or be totally militant? these guys feel that they are right being vegan and i dont blame them. im too selfish to join them but if they want to burn down a store that sells furs or educate people on the harms of factory raised meat then thats great. there is no reason why they shouldnt act just like there is no reason i should respect someone religious beliefs when people are flying planes into buildings and keeping gays from reaping the benefits of marriage. if we let everyone just do their thing then who is around to keep compassion and common sense in check?

i know its not politically correct to say but i think history shows that certain groups of people are wrong. as subjective as being "wrong" is it happens and in hindsight it becomes obvious. im not going to stop hating people who value an undeveloped embryo over a living, breathing woman with feelings and needs and i hope these guys dont stop their fight against factory farms. all im saying is that if intelligent people adhered to blind respect for others beliefs, things would be a lot worse than they are.

sorry guys, i felt like listening to myself talk.

  8. Re: Who's a vegan?

The evidence is out there, animal protein eaten over many years is harmful to the human body.......And if you are lucky enough to live a full healthy and happy live as you say on a western diet, then good, but you still did it by not allowing other creatures with heart beats like you, central nervous systems like you, a brain like you, the ability to produce and raise young like you, you supported their death and ate the fear and horror they felt before being murdered!! There is nothing natural about that!!

as a runner and someone who pays attention to what my diet should contain i cant really agree with you. as an ex vegetarian i do know where your coming from and probably have some idea of where you have gotten your arguments. im definitely not putting down what you do because its a noble way of life and youre right, humans can completly sustain themselves on grains and vegetables (though most do not do it properly), it just that having experienced both sides of things i think there is a happy medium. keep in mind this is only from a nutritional stand point. i cant defend killing animals for food. its selfish and i have no delusions about that.
